UNIFIED 911 ALERT LEADS POLICE TO FOIL TARLAC PAWNSHOP ROBBERY; 8 SUSPECTS ARRESTED
A timely distress alert through the Unified 911 emergency response system helped police prevent an alleged robbery at a pawnshop in Santa Ignacia, Tarlac, leading to the arrest of eight suspects on September 4, 2026.
Police responded after the establishment’s alarm was activated at around 10:30 a.m. and the incident was reported through 911. Responding personnel immediately checked the area and found signs of forced entry, with initial investigation indicating that the suspects had allegedly used a nearby drainage system to gain access to the establishment.
A follow-up operation resulted in the arrest of five suspects who were reportedly attempting to leave through the same route. Police later located and arrested three other alleged companions aboard an Isuzu Elf truck in a nearby barangay.
Authorities recovered an improvised pistol, three hand gr***des, one rifle gr***de, eight sachets of suspected shabu, various tools, and the vehicle allegedly used by the group.
Chief PNP Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. underscored the importance of having an emergency response system that allows citizens and police to connect quickly when every minute matters.
“The value of Unified 911 is seen when a call quickly turns into action. Dito mahalaga ang mabilis na impormasyon at mabilis na pagresponde. We want every emergency call to reach the right people and lead to the right response as soon as possible,” PGen Nartatez said.
The successful response reflects the PNP’s continuing implementation of its Focused Agenda, particularly under Enhanced Managing Police Operations, by improving coordination, response capability, and the delivery of police services. It also supports President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s call for responsive and accessible public service that communities can rely on when they need immediate assistance.
The PNP reminds the public to immediately report emergencies and suspicious activities through Unified 911 and to provide accurate information that can help responding personnel act promptly and appropriately.
The PNP will continue strengthening emergency response and community-based policing as part of its commitment to a “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman.”
