Exciting Insights from the Usapang Exports Webinar! πŸ“’

We're glad to share the highlights from the recent "Usapang Exports" webinar, where the Department of Trade and the Department of Agriculture joined forces to shed light on two crucial sectors: Agribusiness and the Halal Food Industry.

Mr. Ammar Yassir Baraguir, National Focal Person of the Halal Food Industry Development Program , took the stage to unveil the intricacies of Halal Halal Food Industry and the pivotal role played by the program particularly in the Agri-Fiahery Sector and the production of Halal food raw materials. Delving into the Ten-Year Halal Roadmap and its various components, including regulatory frameworks, promotions, research, and capability building, attendees gained valuable insights into the program's vision.

The ASEAN General Guidelines on Halal Food, the Halal Value Chain, and the Current State of Halal in the Philippines were also discussed, providing a comprehensive view of the industry's growth and challenges. The Proposed Immediate Plan of Action promises exciting developments to further elevate the Philippines' position in the global Halal market.

The "Usapang Exports" webinar brought together experts, stakeholders, and enthusiasts to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing. Together, we're shaping the future of Philippine agribusiness and making strides in the Halal food industry.

We are thrilled to share the latest update on the Philippine Halal Industry! The Halal Technical Working Group recently convened at DTI International, Makati City, on July 28, 2023, to pave the way for the revision of the Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) between the Philippine Halal Export Development and Promotion Board (PHEDP) and the Bangsamoro Halal Board (BHB).

The MOC serves as a vital framework to encourage discussions on cooperation for the Halal Industry's development and promotion. By revising this memorandum, we aim to accelerate socio-economic and peace development, enhance business opportunities, and integrate development initiatives for the Halal Industry in our beloved country.

The meeting was attended by esteemed representatives from various agencies, including the Department of Agriculture - Halal Food Industry Development Program (DA-HFIDP), who contributed their insights and expertise.

During this significant gathering, Dr. Mansoor Limba, the Program Head of DA-HFIDP, shared invaluable ideas, opinions, and technical writing skills to enrich the MOC's structure, context, and terminologies.

We are heartened by the firm commitment demonstrated by Deputy Minister Atty. Sukarno A. Abbas of the Ministry of Trade, Investments and Tourism (MTIT) - BARMM, on behalf of the Bangsamoro Halal Board (BHB). Their dedication to fostering cooperation with the Philippine government will undoubtedly propel our Halal Industry and Export to new heights.

The meeting also addressed the issue of Halal Accreditation and Certification, ensuring a harmonized approach among accrediting bodies, including the Philippine Accreditation Board (PAB), the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF), and the Halal Accreditation Division (HDAD) of MTIT-BARMM.

In pursuit of unified standards and regulations, the Halal Technical Board has decided to seek further assistance and review the Implementing Rules and Regulation (IRR) of RA 10817, known as the "Philippine Halal Export Development and Promotion Act of 2016," and its counterpart, the Bangsamoro Autonomy Act (BAA) No. 13, also known as "The Bangsamoro Administrative Code."

We acknowledge that some paragraphs in the MOC require revisions, particularly the section on Implementing Institutions. However, we remain optimistic and committed to finalizing the Memorandum of Cooperation through continued collaboration.

The successful conduct of this meeting signifies a remarkable step towards a stronger, more cohesive approach to the development and promotion of the Halal Industry in the Philippines. Together, we can unlock the full potential of our Halal trade, contributing to socio-economic growth and harmony in our nation.

Stay tuned for further updates on the Philippine Halal Industry's progress and our commitment to fostering cooperation for a brighter future! πŸŒŸπŸ•Œ
