The journey to productivity continues as participants expand their knowledge and skills in coconut-based farming systems, production economics, farm enterprise development, and farm planning.

Mr. Aldrin G. Veneracion, Acting Division Chief, discussed the Coconut-Based Farming System, focusing on coconut intercropping and livestock integration, as well as harvesting and postharvest handling. The session highlighted opportunities to maximize farm resources while ensuring proper management of coconut produce from harvest to postharvest.

Ms. Princess Claire A. Monasterial, Project Development Officer III, discussed the Economics of Coconut Production, including the estimation of coconut palm and farm production (yield).

Meanwhile, Ms. Catherine May A. Manongsong, Regional Technical Staff, facilitated discussions on Coconut-Based Enterprises, Farm Planning and Budgeting, and Record Keeping, emphasizing the importance of proper planning, financial management, and documentation in sustaining productive and profitable coconut farms.

Putting knowledge into practice, participants engaged in a Farm Plan and Budget Workshop, followed by group presentations where they applied their learning and received feedback and recommendations for improvement.

The training also features a Freedom Wall, where participants share their appreciation, concerns, experiences, and suggestions throughout the training. By Day 4, participants have already shared valuable feedback on the training opportunity, their stay, and areas for improvement.

The journey to productivity continues as participants strengthen their knowledge and practical skills in coconut nutrition, crop protection, and Integrated Pest Management (IPM).

Ms. Warren A. Velasco, Agriculturist II / Project Operations Manager, facilitated discussions on crop nutrition and fertilizer application, management of bearing palms, age determination, and leaf and soil sampling, emphasizing practices for maintaining healthy and productive coconut palms.

The session also covered Coconut Pest and Disease Management, facilitated by Dr. Ma. Chyrelyn A. Pace, Acting Division Chief III, PCA Davao Research Center (DRC), focusing on pest identification, monitoring, and management, with emphasis on Coconut Scale Insect and Copra Beetle and their effects on palm health, yield, and farm income.

Participants also gained hands-on experience through a Field Demonstration on Log Trap Establishment and Pheromone Trap Installation, facilitated by Ms. Loletgen P. Galicia, Science Research Assistant, PCA DRC.

The IPM Protocol was also discussed, highlighting standardized data collection for effective pest management.

๐ŸŒด Specialized Training Course on Coconut Agro-Technology and Extension

The Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) Regions III and MIMAROPA formally commenced the Specialized Training Course on Coconut Agro-Technology and Extension, which will run from September 7 to 19, 2026, at the St. Isidore โ€œThe Farmerโ€ Training and Assessment Center, Brgy. San Isidro, Santa Ana, Pampanga.

The training brings together thirty (30) newly hired PCA personnel, composed of Agriculturists, Technical Staff, Project Development Officers, and Site Supervisors from Regions I, II, CAR, Central Luzon & MIMAROPA, and Region V (Bicol Region).

In his Welcome Remarks, Mr. Dennis D. Andres, Regional Manager III, underscored that the activity goes beyond a conventional training program. It is an opportunity to deepen participantsโ€™ understanding of coconut production, agro-technology, and the coconut industry, providing them with a strong foundation to become more effective, responsive, and efficient extension workers.

Ang mga kalahok na CSO ay nagsisilbing mahahalagang katuwang sa pagpapatupad ng programa. Ang kanilang aktibong pakikilahok ay nakatutulong sa epektibong pagpapatupad ng Coconut Hybridization Program, na naglalayong suportahan ang pagpapalawak ng mga taniman ng niyog at ang pagbibigay ng de-kalidad na pananim para sa mga magniniyog.

Matatandaang noong Agosto 2026 ay natanggap din ng mga PCA-Accredited CSO ang kanilang 1st tranche payment mula naman sa NP: Community Participation sa ilalim ng Massive Coconut Planting Program CY 2026.

Sa pamamagitan ng patuloy na pakikipagtulungan ng PCA at ng mga akreditadong CSO nito, mas mapapalawak ang produksyon ng niyog, mapapahusay ang produktibidad, at mga oportunidad na higit na makatutulong sa pag-unlad at pag-angat ng kabuhayan ng mga magniniyog sa buong Lalawigan ng Aurora.
