The Disaster Response Management Bureau (DRMB) Information Officers from various field offices convened for a coordination meeting facilitated by the Project LAWA at BINHI (PLAB) team on September 3, 2026, via Google Meet at the Disaster Response Command Center.
The meeting aimed to strengthen coordination among Information Officers and ensure aligned communication efforts in promoting the Departmentโs disaster response and climate change adaptation initiatives. It covers a briefing on Project LAWA at BINHI, updates on the agreements reached during the previous EELV meeting with DRMD IOs, guidelines on Facebook posting, and other matters.
This is in line with DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalianโs support for strengthening the resilience of poor and vulnerable families against the impacts of climate change and disasters. Through Project LAWA at BINHI, the Department seeks to enhance communitiesโ adaptive capacity, with emphasis on water sufficiency, food security, and community capacity- building.
One of the key discussions was the presentation of the PLAB implementation and accomplishment briefer, highlighting PLAB as a flagship intervention under the Risk Resiliency Program โ Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation (RRP-CCAM). The project aims to strengthen the resilience and adaptive capacity of vulnerable communities in the face of climate change and disaster risks.
The team also provided updates on the 2026 implementation of RRP-CCAM. The presentation also highlighted 1,697 LAWA sites established this year, contributing to water conservation and agricultural production in communities.
The meeting likewise covered guidance on the proper use of the PLAB logo and standard templates for quote cards, reels, and other creative materials. The guidelines aim to ensure consistency in campaign paraphernalia, and messaging across all field offices.
In her closing message, Disaster Response and Management Bureau (DRMB) Director Maria Isabel Lanada, Ph.D., recognized the contributions of the field offices and the PLAB team. She further underscored that the Information Officers play a vital role in ensuring the successful implementation of the project, particularly as they serve as the link between the Department and its partner communities.

Together, DRMB Director Maria Isabel Lanada, Ph.D., National Focal Person Rainheart Arce, the PLAB team, and DRMB Information Officers reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening community resilience through coordinated and responsive communication efforts. The activity concluded with a call for sustained collaboration in advancing the Departmentโs disaster response and climate change adaptation initiatives.
