Sa nalalapit na paggunita ng ika-54 na taon mula sa deklarasyon ng Batas Militar. Muling bubuksan ng Human Rights Violations Victims’ Memorial Commission ang espasyo para sa pakikinig, pag-alala at pakikipagkapwa-tao sa mga mismong nakaranas ng Martial Law.

𝘚𝘢 𝘛𝘢𝘰 𝘴𝘢 𝘛𝘢𝘰: 𝘔𝘨𝘢 𝘒𝘶𝘸𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘯𝘨 𝘔𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘓𝘢𝘸, makakasama natin sina Ginang 𝗡𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗮 𝗚𝗶𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗮-𝗙𝘂𝗹𝗹𝗼𝗻 at Ginoong 𝗕𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗼 𝗝𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗦𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗮𝘀, dalawang survivor na magbabahagi ngkanilang salaysay at karanasan noong Batas Militar.

Isasagawa ito sa 9 Setyembre 2026, 8 ng umaga sa National University Las Piñas. Nakalaan at makakatuwang sa aktibidad na ito ang mga mag-aaral ng NU-Las Piñas.

𝗜𝗖𝗬𝗠𝗜: Last week, the "𝙀𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙚𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙏𝙧𝙪𝙩𝙝: 𝙈𝙪𝙨𝙚𝙪𝙢 𝙂𝙪𝙞𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙥 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙈𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙇𝙖𝙬 𝙎𝙪𝙧𝙫𝙞𝙫𝙤𝙧𝙨" was conducted at The Freedom Memorial Museum Gallery.

Martial Law survivors came together for a specialized museum guiding workshop in preparation for 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘂𝗺: 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗚𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗟𝗮𝘄 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗶𝘃𝗼𝗿𝘀 this September. Through lectures and interactive sessions, participants explored effective museum guiding techniques that enable them to weave their lived experiences from the 1972–1986 Martial Law period into the interpretive narratives of The Freedom Memorial Museum Gallery (TFMMG). They also gained practical insights into applying a trauma-informed lens when sharing and listening to difficult stories, helping create visitor experiences rooted in empathy, care, and respect.

Facilitated by Ms. Lean Aldea of the NHCP Emilio Aguinaldo Shrine, the workshop introduced participants to the fundamentals of museum guiding and visitor engagement, equipping them with essential skills to lead meaningful and impactful tours. Complementing this, mental health professional Ms. Camille Milioga conducted a session on trauma-informed approaches, providing participants with tools to thoughtfully navigate sensitive histories and support both themselves and their audiences when engaging with stories of human rights violations.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our partners, Bantayog ng mga Bayani and the Survivors’ Hub (1972–1986), for helping make this meaningful collaboration possible. Together, we continue to ensure that the stories, lessons, and lived experiences of Martial Law survivors remain at the heart of historical remembrance and public education.

With profound gratitude, the Human Rights Violations Victims’ Memorial Commission (HRVVMC) warmly welcomes the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriations’ approval of our proposed 2027 budget on September 3, 2026. Led by Chairperson Richard Palpal-Latoc and Acting Executive Director Lawrence Charles Salazar, the Commission extends our heartfelt appreciation to the lawmakers whose trust and belief in our mission make this vital work possible.

This support is far more than a financial commitment—it is a shared promise. Remembering those who suffered and sacrificed during Martial Law goes beyond honoring history. It is a living, breathing responsibility to protect human dignity, defend justice, and ensure that the hard-won democracy we enjoy today remains safe for generations to come.

The Human Rights Violations Victims’ Memorial Commission extends its condolences to the family, friends, colleagues, and loved ones of Juanito P. Delamida, who passed away on September 2, 2026.

Juanito P. Delamida dedicated many years of his life to service. From 1995 to 2018, he faithfully served the Conference of Major Superiors in the Philippines (CMSP), where he was remembered for his commitment, humility, kindness, and faithful presence.

During Martial Law, Delamida was working as a maintenance and liaison officer at the Social Action Center (SAC) in Catbalogan, Western Samar, when state security forces raided the office on September 1, 1982. He recounted his arrest and torture following the raid and his subsequent detention.

His experience is part of the documented history of human rights violations during Martial Law. His account contributes to the continuous work of recognizing the experiences of victims and preserving their stories as part of our shared memory.

We remember Juanito P. Delamida not only for the violations he endured, but also for the years he devoted to serving others. May his life and memory remind us of the importance of dignity, compassion, and the continuing responsibility to uphold human rights.

May he rest in eternal peace.

The Freedom Memorial Museum Gallery will be temporarily closed on 𝟮𝟴 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 (𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆) for the conduct of a specialized training program entitled "Echoes of Truth: Museum Guiding Workshop for Martial Law Survivors."

Regular gallery hours will resume on 29 August 2026 (Saturday).

The Freedom Memorial Museum Gallery is located at 150 Corporate Center, Panay Avenue, Quezon City and is open to the public from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Tuesdays to Sundays, except on holidays or work suspensions, with no admission fee.

Special guided tours are conducted Tuesdays-Thursdays and must be booked 3 working days in advance.
