Ipinagdiriwang mula Setyembre 2 hanggang 8, 2026 ang Literacy Week, isang taunang paggunita na nagbibigay-diin sa literacy bilang mahalagang bahagi ng edukasyon at pag-unlad. 📖

Sa ilalim ng Proclamation No. 239 (s. 1993), itinalaga ang Setyembre 2–8 bilang Literacy Week upang kilalanin ang literacy bilang isang pangunahing karapatan ng lahat at bigyang-pansin ang pangangailangang tugunan ang illiteracy.

Binigyang-diin din ng Proclamation ang Education for All (EFA), na naglalayong gawing abot-kamay ang basic education para sa lahat ng Pilipino.

Para sa mga bata, ang access sa literacy at edukasyon ay mahalaga upang sila ay matuto, umunlad, at magkaroon ng mas maraming pagkakataon sa hinaharap. 👧🧒💙

Ngayong Literacy Week, sama-sama nating itaguyod ang karapatan ng bawat bata sa literacy at edukasyon. 📚🌱

From September 8–10, World Vision Philippines, together with Unilab Foundation, NU Fairview, Council for the Welfare of Children, and National Youth Commission will create space for children and young people to lead the conversation at the Children and Youth-Led Research Forum, where they will share their perspectives and call attention to issues that matter to them through three key areas:

The Cluster 4 Regional Training of Trainers (TOT) on the Child Budget and Expenditure Tagging and Tracking (CBETT) for Regions IX, X, and XI successfully concluded on 24–28 August 2026 in Davao City, led by the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC), Chair of the Public Finance for Children (PF4C) Committee.

Pursuant to the CWC–DBM–DILG–BLGF Joint Memorandum Circular No. 2025-01, the TOT convened members of the Regional Public Finance for Children–Technical Working Groups and concerned members of the Regional Committees and Sub-Committees for the Welfare of Children to strengthen their technical competencies and skills on the CBETT processes, modules, and tool, while preparing them to support and facilitate its implementation across their respective regions.

With CBETT now reaching Mindanao, another important milestone has been achieved in building a nationwide network of capable trainers and advocates for child-responsive public finance. As more regional trainers are equipped, the capacity to cascade CBETT to provinces, cities, and municipalities continues to expand, bringing us closer to ensuring that children are meaningfully reflected in planning, budgeting, and public expenditure decisions across the country.

The CWC extends its appreciation to all the regional representatives and secretariats from Regions IX, X, and XI for their active participation, collaboration, and valuable insights throughout the TOT.

Our sincere thanks also go to our valued partners, particularly Social Watch Philippines (SWP), the European Union and UNICEF, the Department of Budget and Management–Local Government and Regional Coordination Bureau, the Department of the Interior and Local Government–Bureau of Local Government Development, and the Bureau of Local Government Finance, for joining and supporting the national CBETT training team, and for your continued commitment to advancing child-responsive planning, budgeting, and expenditure tracking for children.
