National Transmission Corporation The National Transmission Corporation (TransCo) is the owner of the country’s transmission assets

The National Transmission Corporation (TransCo) is a government agency created under Republic Act No. 9136, otherwise known as the Electric Power Industry Reform Act (EPIRA) of 2001. Since March 1, 2003, TransCo operated and managed the power transmission system that links power plants to the electric distribution utilities nationwide. The same law mandated the privatization of TransCo through an

outright sale or management concession agreement. Following a public bidding conducted in December 2007, the TransCo concession was awarded to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), which eventually secured a congressional franchise to operate the transmission network through Republic Act No. 9511. On January 15, 2009, TransCo turned over the management and operation of its nationwide transmission system to NGCP. Ownership of all transmission assets however, remains with TransCo. As owner of the transmission assets, the new TransCo is mandated with five key responsibilities:

- Protect national government’s interests by ensuring NGCP’s compliance with the terms and conditions of the Concession Agreement and the policies of the Department of Energy;

-Handle all existing cases, including right-of-way and claims which accrued prior to the turnover date;

-Divest remaining sub-transmission assets to technically and financially qualified electric distributors nationwide; and

-Undertake the operation, maintenance, consultancy and other technical services for the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA).

-Administer the Feed-in-Tariff Allowance Fund for renewable energy generators.

𝗛𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘆 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀' 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵! 🍎

TransCo joins the nation in celebrating National Teachers' Month 2026 under the theme "Teacher, Ikaw Naman!”, a tribute grounded in the spirit of pagbibigay-pugay that honors not only our teachers, but also the non-teaching personnel and child development workers whose quiet, steadfast work shapes the next generation.

At TransCo, this theme resonates close to home, through our Gender and Development (GAD) Program and the TransCo Day Care Center . We recognize our child development workers, whose patience, care, and dedication provide a nurturing early-learning environment for the children of TransCo employees while supporting parents in balancing their family responsibilities and public service.

To all Filipino teachers and educators who help shape young minds and build the nation’s future, maraming salamat po sa inyong malasakit, sakripisyo, at walang sawang paglilingkod.

Ngayong National Teachers’ Month, kayo naman ang aming bibigyang-pugay!

𝗛𝗘𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧𝗦 𝗧𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗧𝗘𝗟𝗟 𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗜𝗘𝗦

Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey is still showing in Philippine cinemas this History Month bringing legendary stories to new heights, including its imposing Trojan Horse, estimated to be between 25-40 feet tall (7.6-12 m.)

Closer to home, the Rizal Monument in Luneta Park stands as a towering legend of our own, at 42 feet (12.7 m), a lasting symbol of Philippine nationhood.

Rising even higher are our 500 kV transmission towers, which stand approximately 90 to 150 feet (27 to 46 meters). These structures form part of the country’s power transmission assets owned by TransCo—critical infrastructure that supports the delivery of electricity that lights up millions of Filipino homes every single day.

From the epic journeys that capture our imagination and the heroes who shaped our identity to the engineering achievements that support modern life, each tells a story of vision, resilience, and nation-building. 🇵🇭⚡
