The National Council for Children’s Television (NCCT), in partnership with the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP), conducted the Dialogue with Content Creators (DCC) on 02 September 2026 at Dusit Thani Manila, Makati City.
The activity brought together stakeholders from the broadcasting industry to strengthen awareness and understanding of the Republic Act (RA) No. 8370, otherwise known as the Children’s Television Act of 1997, the Child-Friendly Content Standards (CFCS), and the Media Monitoring Scorecard.
The dialogue highlighted the importance of the broadcasting industry’s role in providing children with safe, educational, age-appropriate, and developmentally beneficial television content. It also underscored the requirement under Section 9 of RA 8370 for broadcast television networks (BTNs) to allocate at least fifteen percent (15%) of their daily total airtime to children’s television and/or child-friendly programs.
Through DCC, the NCCT continues to foster meaningful dialogue and collaboration with broadcast television networks, encouraging greater industry participation in the implementation of the law and in advancing child-friendly television programming across the country.
“The goal is not simply to increase compliance. More importantly, it is to help create a media environment where Filipino children can enjoy television content that respects their rights, supports their development, and reflects their best interests,” NCCT Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Maria Jowelyne A. Abendan emphasized in her opening remarks.
The activity reaffirmed the shared responsibility of the government and the broadcasting industry in creating a television landscape that protects children from harmful media content while promoting programs that contribute to their growth, learning, creativity, and well-being.
