MOA Signing Held for LOVE Chicken Layer Project in CALABARZON
The Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI), in collaboration with the National Livestock Program (NLP) and the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office CALABARZON (DA-RFO IV-A), successfully conducted the Orientation and Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) Signing for the Establishment of Livelihood Opportunities and Viable Enterprise (LOVE) for Agricultural Farming Communities: Chicken Layer Project on May 19, 2026, at Argosino Hall, LARES Compound, Brgy. Marawoy, Lipa City, Batangas.
The MOA covers eleven beneficiaries per province of CALABARZON who will receive layer chickens with cages complete with feeders and ni**le drinkers, vitamins, medications, disinfectants and feeds.
According to BAI Director Dr. Christian Daquigan, βThis initiative contributes to strengthening the local poultry industry and improving the everyday lives of Filipino families. By helping our farmers increase productivity and establish sustainable livelihoods, we are also ensuring that communities have greater access to affordable and nutritious food for their families.β
OIC-Chief of the Research Division and Livestock Banner Program Coordinator Dr. Wilmer S. Faylon presented an overview of the project, emphasizing its contribution to sustainable poultry production, livelihood generation, and food security in the region.
Other officials who gave their messages and extended their support included OIC-Regional Technical Director (RTD) for Operations and Extension Engr. Romelo F. Reyes, who represented DA-RFO CALABARZON OIC-Regional Executive Director Engr. Redelliza A. Gruezo, NLP Deputy Director Dr. Noverlee P. Calub and DA-ATI CALABARZON Assistant Center Director Sherylou C. Alfaro.
The activity gathered representatives from the Department of Agriculture (DA), Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI), Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), Local Government Units (LGUs), Farmersβ Cooperatives and Associations (FCAs), and farmer-beneficiaries across CALABARZON. The event aimed to strengthen collaboration among stakeholders and formally discuss the implementation and monitoring processes of the LOVE Project.
The LOVE Project is anticipated to boost local egg production, support regional efforts for food security, and offer farming communities sustainable livelihood options. With the continuous support of partner agencies and beneficiaries, the project is expected to create a positive impact on rural communities by improving household income, encouraging entrepreneurship, and ensuring a stable supply of affordable and nutritious eggs for Filipino families. # # #
