Mas pinatitibay ang livestock sector ng bansa sa pamamagitan ng makabagong breeding technologies at high-quality genetics na hatid ng Bureau of Animal Industry.

Sa panayam ng Agribusiness, tinalakay ni BAI Director Dr. Christian Daquigan ang patuloy na pagpapalakas ng cattle industry. Kabilang dito ang pagbibigay ng access sa mga dekalidad na breeding bulls sa ilalim ng Bull Loan Program na layuning matulungan ang ating mga livestock raisers na mapataas ang productivity at kita.

Ibinida rin ang Nueva Ecija Stock Farm ng BAI kung saan makikita ang mga top-of-the-line bulls na nagsisilbing pundasyon ng mas maayos na animal breeding at genetics improvement sa bansa.

Kinilala ang Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) bilang isa sa mga nominado sa Philippine Good Regulatory Principles Recognition and Awards Program (PGRP RAP) ngayong taon.

Ang pagkilalang ito ay patunay ng patuloy na pagsisikap ng BAI na mapabuti ang paghahatid ng serbisyo publiko, mapalakas ang maayos at epektibong regulasyon at mapanatili ang tiwala ng mamamayan sa pamahalaan.

Ayon kay Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) Director General Ernesto Perez, layunin ng mga repormang ito na makapaghatid ng tunay at positibong pagbabago sa buhay ng mga Pilipino sa iba’t ibang panig ng bansa.

Patuloy na magsisilbi ang BAI para sa isang mas ligtas, mas matatag at mas maunlad na sektor ng paghahayupan para sa bawat Pilipino. # # #

Sa interview ni BAI Director Christian Daquigan with Agribusiness, tinalakay niya kung paano pwedeng makakuha ng free cattle semen mula sa BAI para sa artificial insemination program.

Ibig sabihin, mas mapapaganda ang lahi ng inyong mga baka. Mas healthy, mas productive, without the big cost ng pagkakaroon ng breeding bull.

Part ito ng tuloy-tuloy na suporta ng BAI sa ating mga magbababaka para mas mapalakas ang livestock industry sa bansa.

MOA Signing Held for LOVE Chicken Layer Project in CALABARZON

The Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI), in collaboration with the National Livestock Program (NLP) and the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office CALABARZON (DA-RFO IV-A), successfully conducted the Orientation and Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) Signing for the Establishment of Livelihood Opportunities and Viable Enterprise (LOVE) for Agricultural Farming Communities: Chicken Layer Project on May 19, 2026, at Argosino Hall, LARES Compound, Brgy. Marawoy, Lipa City, Batangas.

The MOA covers eleven beneficiaries per province of CALABARZON who will receive layer chickens with cages complete with feeders and ni**le drinkers, vitamins, medications, disinfectants and feeds.

According to BAI Director Dr. Christian Daquigan, “This initiative contributes to strengthening the local poultry industry and improving the everyday lives of Filipino families. By helping our farmers increase productivity and establish sustainable livelihoods, we are also ensuring that communities have greater access to affordable and nutritious food for their families.”

OIC-Chief of the Research Division and Livestock Banner Program Coordinator Dr. Wilmer S. Faylon presented an overview of the project, emphasizing its contribution to sustainable poultry production, livelihood generation, and food security in the region.

Other officials who gave their messages and extended their support included OIC-Regional Technical Director (RTD) for Operations and Extension Engr. Romelo F. Reyes, who represented DA-RFO CALABARZON OIC-Regional Executive Director Engr. Redelliza A. Gruezo, NLP Deputy Director Dr. Noverlee P. Calub and DA-ATI CALABARZON Assistant Center Director Sherylou C. Alfaro.

The activity gathered representatives from the Department of Agriculture (DA), Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI), Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), Local Government Units (LGUs), Farmers’ Cooperatives and Associations (FCAs), and farmer-beneficiaries across CALABARZON. The event aimed to strengthen collaboration among stakeholders and formally discuss the implementation and monitoring processes of the LOVE Project.

The LOVE Project is anticipated to boost local egg production, support regional efforts for food security, and offer farming communities sustainable livelihood options. With the continuous support of partner agencies and beneficiaries, the project is expected to create a positive impact on rural communities by improving household income, encouraging entrepreneurship, and ensuring a stable supply of affordable and nutritious eggs for Filipino families. # # #

DA Supports Whole-of-Government Approach to Health Security

In support of strengthening the country’s health security initiatives, the Department of Agriculture (DA) joined the Department of Health (DOH), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), other key national government agencies, development partners, local government units, academe and other stakeholders during the National Action Plan for Health Security (NAPHS) Inception and Implementation Readiness Sessions held on May 14, 2026 at Eastwood Richmonde Hotel.

The session opened with presentations on the overview, development timeline and strategic operational plans of the NAPHS, followed by a keynote message from DOH Secretary Teodoro Herbosa, emphasizing the importance of cohesive action in addressing public health and disease threats.

Undersecretary for Livestock Dr. Constante Palabrica conveyed the support of the DA for strengthened collaboration among agencies and stakeholders in implementing the country’s health security agenda.

Undersecretary Palabrica highlighted the importance of adopting a “whole-of-government and whole-of-society approach” in addressing emerging and re-emerging disease threats, stressing that agencies must work together rather than in silos. He highlighted that strong coordination among government institutions, local government units, academe, development partners and the private sector is essential in ensuring effective surveillance, preparedness, and response mechanisms for both animal and public health concerns.

The activity also featured messages of support from key national government agencies, academe, and other stakeholders, as well as a statement from the World Health Organization. A ceremonial unveiling of the NAPHS logo and document signing was likewise conducted to signify the commitment of participating institutions toward the successful implementation of the national health security plan.

Discussions in the afternoon session focused on implementation strategies moving forward, including indicators and performance tracking, reporting mechanisms and annual review processes to strengthen monitoring and evaluation of NAPHS initiatives.

The activity aimed to strengthen inter-agency coordination and implementation readiness for the country’s health security initiatives under the One Health framework, recognizing the interconnectedness of human health, animal health and environmental health. # # #
