Empowering women. Promoting equality. Sustaining fisheries.

25/05/2026

Peace begins when women are safe. Peace grows when women are heard. And peace becomes lasting when women are empowered to lead and shape the future.

This International Women’s Day for Peace and Disarmament, we honor the strength and leadership of women who continue to champion peace, justice, and equality in their communities and beyond. Their voices remind us that violence can never be the answer to the world’s challenges.

The Philippine Commission on Women stands in solidarity with all women working to build safer, more inclusive, and peaceful communities.

Together, let us continue advancing a future where every woman and girl can live free from fear, violence, and inequality.

Because when women thrive in peace, communities and nations move forward together.

Mabuhay ang bawat manggagawang Pilipino! 🫑

She reclaimed her power by standing firm in her voice, her rights, and her purpose.

Through courage, resilience, and collective action, women continue to break barriers and challenge systems that once silenced them. Empowerment is not just personalβ€”it is a movement that transforms communities and inspires change.

Because when women rise, equality moves forward, and nothing stays the same. ✨

𝐈𝐍 ππ‡πŽπ“πŽπ’ | The DA-Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DA-BFAR) reinforced its commitment to inclusive and gender-responsive fisheries programs through the Training of Trainers on Understanding Gender Sensitivity and Inclusiveness in the Fisheries Sector through Gender Analysis, held on April 13–17, 2026 in Region IV-A.

The five-day activity gathered Regional DSIP Focal and Technical Staff, members of the National Technical Working Group (NTWG) and BFAR Central Office staff. The training underscores the importance of integrating gender perspectives across programs and services, while deepening participants’ understanding of gender concepts, legal mandates, and inclusive approaches within the fisheries sector.

Through a combination of discussions and practical exercises, participants were equipped with tools for gender analysis and gained insights to address gender-related challenges, including biases and stereotypes. As trainers, participants are now prepared to cascade these learnings within their respective units, contributing to more inclusive, responsive, and sustainable fisheries initiatives.
