Agriculture and fisheries technologies supported by the Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Agricultural Research (DA-BAR) will take center stage in the upcoming 4th National Agriculture and Fisheries Technology Exhibition (NAFTE) on October 1โ€“3 in Legazpi City, Albay.

With the theme, Innovation in Action: Bridging Science, Industry, and Communities for Scalable and Sustainable Agri-Fisheries (A&F) Technologies, the three-day exhibition will provide a venue for technology developers and partners to showcase mature agri-fishery technologies, share knowledge, and build linkages with stakeholders who can contribute to their wider utilization.

The opening program will feature an inspirational message from DA Secretary Francisco P. Tiu Laurel, Jr., and a Keynote Address from Senate President Sherwin T. Gatchalian.

The event will also bring together representatives from DA regional field offices and attached agencies, research institutions, state colleges and universities, local government units, the private sector, and non-government organizations to feature available technologies and products.

As the lead organizer and lead coordinating agency, DA-BAR spearheads NAFTE to promote research-generated technologies and help bridge technology developers with potential users and partners in the agriculture and fisheries sector. This year, the bureau collaborates with DA-Bicol, Bicol Agriculture and Fisheries Resources, Research and Extension for Development Network (BAFRREDN), and Albay Local Government Unit.

The first day will feature the ceremonial launching of DA-BAR-supported agri-fishery technologies, including Phytomedicines and Phytogenic Feed Additives for Organic Chicken developed by Central Philippine University and the IPM protocol for Corn Fall Armyworm in Cagayan Valley. The program will also feature the launching of the National Agriculture and Fisheries Resources, Research and Extension for Development Network (AFRREDN) logo and Bicol regional initiatives.

The exhibition will be complemented by Market Talks and a Seminar Series, providing spaces for knowledge exchange on technologies, market opportunities, and emerging concerns in agri-fisheries. Market Talks on the first day will feature discussions on market assessment of veggie chips and Queen Pineapple flour, followed by a dialogue with experts from government and the private sector.

On the second day, the program will feature technology transfer sessions on forage-based pelletized blended ration for goats, fertilizer and pesticide use strategies and mango productivity technology, and the Zero Energy Cooling Chamber. The Seminar Series will also cover topics on drone applications for rice, stingless bees, Black Soldier Fly-based feed for poultry, value-added rabbit meat products, and Queen Pineapple-based farming systems.

The program will also give farmers and beneficiaries opportunities to share their stories, highlighting experiences from interventions involving mushroom production, organic farming practices, drone technology, and farmer field-based initiatives.

The final day will recognize NAFTE exhibitors through awards for Best Innovative Product in food and non-food categories and Best Booth. The event will culminate in the Stakeholder Forum, which will bring together representatives from different parts of the value chain to discuss challenges and explore collaborative solutions.

Through NAFTE, DA-BAR continues to provide a platform for promoting mature A&F technologies while strengthening networks among researchers, government institutions, communities, and industry supporting the movement of research and innovation toward practical application and sustainable development in the agriculture and fisheries sector.

The natural and plant-based treatment for Philippine Native Chicken against Chronic Respiratory Disease and Poultry Roundworm is among the key technologies recognized during the Presidential Filipinnovation Awards 2026 held on September 3, 2026 in Quezon City.

Developed by the Research Center for Philippine Native Chicken of the Central Philippines University (CPU)-College of Agriculture, Resources, and Environmental Sciences, the Garlic Emulsified Concentrate is now commercialized by the Golden Sprout Corporation, offering organic farmers and native chicken raisers with natural, viable, and effective alternatives to synthetic medication to support health, productivity, and sustainable production of Philippine Native Chicken.

The innovation is among research-developed products and production technologies developed through CPU's Research for Development project, funded by the DA-Bureau of Agricultural Research through the DA-National Organic Agriculture Program.
