The Department of Agriculture-National Fisheries Research and Development Institute (DA-NFRDI) concluded its three-day Olymfish 2026 on July 28-30 at the Project 6 Multipurpose Building in Quezon City as part of the Civil Servants' Health and Wellness Month, bringing employees together through sports, friendly competition, and team-building activities.
In her message, NFRDI Executive Director Maria Theresa Mutia emphasized that strong teamwork is built through shared experiences and encouraged employees to participate in the annual sportsfest to strengthen camaraderie and foster a collaborative work culture.
Guided by the theme "Syensyang may saya, nagsasama-sama ay nagkakaisa," this year's event highlighted the value of teamwork, unity, and collaboration through sports and recreational activities inspired by fisheries and aquatic science.
Four teams (Black Mahi-mahi, Red Lapu-lapu, Green Hasa-hasa, and Blue Pla-pla) competed in a parade of colors, torch-lighting ceremony, Mr. and Ms. Olymfish, cheer dance competition, basketball, mixed volleyball, chess, mixed doubles badminton, mixed doubles pickleball, and Filipino-inspired fun games.
At the end of the competition, Black Mahi-mahi emerged as the overall champion of Olymfish 2026.
Coined from the words "Olympics" and "fish," Olymfish reflects NFRDI's commitment to promoting employee wellness, work-life balance, and stronger workplace collaboration.
