RITES | Celebration of Mass for the Care of Creation in the Diocese of Cubao: 1st Sunday of September

During the 130th Plenary Assembly of the CBCP, the bishops mandated that โ€œall parishes and ecclesial communities in the Philippines shall celebrate โ€˜Creation Dayโ€™ (also called the โ€˜World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creationโ€™) on the first Sunday of September each year,โ€ during which the new formulary of the Mass for the Care of Creation and its readings shall be used.

In our diocese, the celebration will be observed this Sunday, September 6, 2026, beginning with the anticipated Masses on Saturday evening. The liturgical color for the celebration will be green. While the Mass for the Care of Creation has its own readings, the readings for the 23rd Sunday in Ordinary Time may also be used.

We are also attaching a pastoral resource from the CBCP with a few ideas on how to enrich the celebration.

In our worship, may we all be able โ€œto live this Season of Creation with faith and courage by celebrating the Eucharist with the new formulary, praying for ecological conversion, and taking concrete steps to live sustainablyโ€”protecting forests, seas, and skies, reducing waste, and safeguarding life for future generations.โ€

IN PHOTOS | 23rd Canonical Establishment Anniversary of the Diocese of Cubao

โ€œFor twenty-three years, we have sought to live our vocation as โ€˜a City set on a Hill,โ€™ called to shine with the light of Christ and to make his presence known through our communion, our witness, and our service.โ€

As the Diocese of Cubao celebrated its 23rd Canonical Establishment Anniversary on August 28, our local Church gathered in deep thanksgiving for the shared journey of the โ€œSantatloโ€ โ€” Clergy, Religious, and Lay faithful. Marking a historic milestone on the road toward the Dioceseโ€™s 25th Jubilee, our shepherd, Most Rev. Elias L. Ayuban Jr., C.M.F., D.D., formally convoked the First Diocesan Synod of Cubao.

This synodal journey invites the entire diocesan family to listen to the Lord and to one another, strengthen communion, renew our missionary identity, and discern together how we are called to serve the People of God in the years ahead. United in prayer and guided by the Holy Spirit, we pray for Bishop Elias and the entire diocese as we step forward into this new season of grace and renewal.
