The Department of Agriculture – Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Service (DA-AMAS), in collaboration with the Food Development Center (FDC), successfully conducted the 3rd Leg of the Business Development Training Course for Agriculture: From Product Development to Product Registration on September 7–11, 2026, in Tagaytay City.

The training brought together 32 start-up MSMEs and Farmers’ Cooperatives and Associations (FCAs) engaged in vegetable-based products, providing them with valuable knowledge and practical guidance on:

🏷️ Basic food labeling requirements
🏭 Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
📋 Food and Drug Administration (FDA) product registration requirements and processes
📈 Product development and market readiness

Beyond learning the technical requirements, the training served as an avenue to equip and empower emerging agricultural enterprises to improve the quality, safety, and marketability of their products.

Through initiatives like this, DA-AMAS and FDC continue to support MSMEs and FCAs in transforming promising agricultural products into competitive, market-ready enterprises capable of reaching both local and international markets. 🌏

The Department of Agriculture–Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Service (DA-AMAS), in collaboration with the Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC)–Taipei, participated in the Philippines–Taiwan Investment Forum last September 7, 2026, as part of the Philippine delegation’s business and trade mission during Taiwan Smart Agriweek 2026.

🚀 Ten (10) Filipino agri-based start-ups took center stage!

The forum provided these promising agri-entrepreneurs with a valuable platform to pitch their innovative agribusiness enterprises and connect with potential investors, business partners, and market opportunities in Taiwan and beyond.

During the Opening Ceremony, DA Assistant Secretary Genevieve E. Velicaria-Guevarra highlighted the importance of building stronger linkages between Philippine innovation and international opportunities:

“May this forum become another bridge between the Philippines and Taiwan—a bridge connecting Filipino innovation with Taiwanese investment, Philippine products with international markets, and our farmers with greater opportunities.”

“GO EXPLORE, GROW COMMUNITIES, GLOW TOGETHER”

The Department of Agriculture (DA), through the Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Service (AMAS), successfully participated in the Health and Wellness Confex (HWONFEX) 2026 at the SMX Convention Center Manila on September 4-5, 2026. The event was organized by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) and is an official ASEAN Side Event for the Global Wellness Economy.

In line with the Department of Agriculture’s mandate to promote safe, sustainable, and health-oriented food systems, DA invited 19 exhibitors, which composed of different FCAs and MSMEs, showcasing a curated selection of organic rice, vegetables, fruits, processed and horticultural goods, alongside GAP-certified products.

Representing DA Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr., Assistant Secretary Genevieve E. Velicaria-Guverra gave a keynote speech during the opening program. She emphasized that for DA, wellness start from what we eat and put on our tables. She further explained that, “A healthy Philippines needs food that is sufficient safe, nutritious, and affordable. Our farmers and fisherfolk are not simply feeding the nation. They are helping build a healthier one.”

The United UBE PH Federation also held its soft launch under the DA Pavilion. Being a non-stock, non-profit organization, it aims to bring together farmers, cooperatives, growers, processors, manufacturers, traders, the academe, government agencies, and other stakeholders to strengthen and promote the Philippine Ube Industry.

DA shall continue to empower our farmers and fisherfolk to promote healthier lifestyles and choices, through raising productivity, improving farm and fishery infrastructure, reducing post-harvest losses, strengthening logistics and market access.

INKED DEAL AND GRAND LAUNCH, HIGHLIGHTS PH COMEBACK AT ASIA FRUIT LOGISTICA (AFL) 2026

One of the highlights of the Philippines’ return to Asia Fruit Logistica 2026 in Hong Kong was the official launch of Philippine Dragon Fruit, represented by Agbeam Farms in partnership with the Philippine Dragon Fruit Growers Association.

The launch marks a significant milestone in positioning dragon fruit as one of the Philippines’ high-value export crops, showcasing its growing potential in international markets and paving the way for the expansion of globally competitive dragon fruit farms in the country.

Moreover, Avante Products Philippines Inc. and Fresh Produce Group Co., a New Zealand-based importer, formally signed a Supply and Purchase Agreement for the continuous supply of banana cardava. A pilot shipment has been done ahead of AFL 2026, and finally, the deal has been closed, ensuring PH banana cardava is consistently available in New Zealand.

The Honorable Deputy Speaker Raymond Democrito C. Mendoza of the House of Representatives, DA Undersecretary Philip C. Young, Philippine Consulate General Romulo Victor Israel, and Agriculture Counsellor Marlito Cabuños witnessed these momentous events, signifying government commitment and support to strengthen PH agri-export development.

🌱 DA-AMAS Upskills Farmers’ Cooperatives and Enterprises for Stronger Agribusiness Partnerships

The Department of Agriculture – Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Service (DA-AMAS) successfully conducted the Enterprise Capacity Enhancement Writeshop/Training on Enterprise Identification and Business Plan Preparation last August 31 to September 4, 2026, in Baguio City.

The activity gathered five (5) Farmers’ and Fisherfolk Cooperatives and Associations (FCAs) and five (5) agri-based enterprises from the Cordillera Administrative Region and Ilocos Region. Through this writeshop, participants were equipped with practical skills in business proposal preparation, enterprise planning, and project identification—making them more efficient in accessing funding support and more capable of proposing implementable and achievable enterprises.

This initiative highlights DA-AMAS’ commitment to upskilling partner FCAs and LGUs so they can become reliable partners of the Department of Agriculture in sustaining food production, promoting value-adding activities, and ensuring business continuity amid rising fuel costs.

By strengthening their readiness to comply with documentary and technical requirements, these FCAs and enterprises are now better positioned to qualify for support under the Kadiwa Financial Grant Assistance Program and the Agri- Entrepreneurship Capability Enhancement Assistance (AECEA) Program.

The Philippines returns to Asia Fruit Logistica (AFL) Hong Kong 2026

Through the leadership of Secretary Francisco P. Tiu Laurel Jr. the Department of Agriculture organized a delegation to AFL2026, the most prestigious trade show in Asia to expand market presence of top export fruits of the Philippines.

After almost a decade, the Philippines made its way to AFL together with the following industry associations as co-exhibitors:

1. Pilipino Banana Growers and Exporters Association ( PBGEA)
2. Durian Exporters Association of the Philippines (DEAP)
3. Philippines Banana Council, Inc.
4. National Mango Farmers and Stakeholders Federation, Inc.
5. Philippine Dragon Fruit Growers Association

The ceremonial ribbon cutting was graced by Honorable Deputy Speaker Raymond Democrito C. Mendoza, DA Undersecretary Philip C. Young, Philippine Consulate General Romulo Victor Israel, and Agriculture Counsellor Marlito Cabuños. The Philexport-Davao and exporter-members of the fruit industry associations also came and showed their support-- united in one goal that is to bring "THE BEST OF PHILIPPINE AGRI TO THE WORLD".
