The Department, through the Bureau of Local Government Development (BLGD), showed its continuing commitment to strengthening initiatives in building a more resilient and disaster-prepared local government units (LGUs) during the Nationally Multistakeholder on Locally-led Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM) 2026 held at the Citadines Roces, Quezon City on June 10, 2026.
Representing the Department, BLGD Assistant Director Maria Angela Monica Salud B. Mamuyac, CESO IV, served as a panelist during the Localization Context in the Philippines panel session, where she underscored the ๐ง๐๐๐ ๐๐จ๐ซ ๐๐๐๐ฌ ๐ญ๐จ ๐ฌ๐ก๐ข๐๐ญ ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ฆ ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐ข๐๐ง๐๐ ๐ญ๐จ ๐จ๐ฎ๐ญ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐-๐๐๐ฌ๐๐ ๐ซ๐ข๐ฌ๐ค-๐ข๐ง๐๐จ๐ซ๐ฆ๐๐ ๐ ๐จ๐ฏ๐๐ซ๐ง๐๐ง๐๐ to achieve actual risk reduction thus, achieving safer communities. She further highlighted the importance of the ๐ ๐๐ง๐ฎ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ข๐ง๐ฏ๐จ๐ฅ๐ฏ๐๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ญ ๐จ๐ ๐ฅ๐จ๐๐๐ฅ ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐๐ฌ not only during response, but also in planning stages to enable effective and actionable disaster risk reduction and management.
The event, organized by the Philippine Preparedness Partnership (PHILPREP), a multi-stakeholder partnership among the Office of the Civil Defense, Center for Disaster Preparedness, Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation, and University of the Philippines Resilience Institute, gathered relevant agencies, civil society, private sectors, academe, and development partners from the ๐๐๐, ๐๐๐ซ๐ฅ๐๐, ๐๐๐ญ๐๐๐ง, ๐๐ข๐๐จ๐ฅ, ๐๐๐ฆ๐๐ซ, ๐๐๐๐ฎ, ๐๐๐ฏ๐๐จ, ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ซ๐ข๐ ๐๐จ to foster collective actions, build shared understanding, and strengthen partnerships among concerned stakeholders towards inclusive and holistic disaster risk management across various levels of government.
