ALLEGED ₱1M “SALISI” THEFT LANDS TENANT IN POLICE CUSTODY

The Philippine National Police, under the command of PNP Chief PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., arrested a 34-year-old female tenant in connection with an alleged “salisi” theft involving high-value jewelry in South Triangle, Quezon City, on August 27, 2026.

Operatives of the Kamuning Police Station (PS-10) under the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) responded after the victim discovered that three pouches containing jewelry worth approximately ₱1,007,000.00 were missing from her pink sling bag.

Initial investigation showed that the victim had earlier found the suspect inside her bedroom applying makeup, despite the suspect’s designated sleeping area being in the unit’s sala. The suspect later left the condominium.

The victim subsequently inspected the suspect’s sleeping area and recovered two bracelet chains inside a small transparent zip-lock bag. The victim’s bedroom key was likewise found near the suspect’s bed. A Buddha pendant valued at ₱250,000.00 was left behind, while its matching necklace was missing.

When the victim learned that the suspect had returned to the condominium lobby, she immediately alerted PS-10 personnel. Responding officers proceeded to the location and arrested the suspect, bringing both parties to the police station for investigation and proper disposition.

The suspect is set to be referred to the Prosecutor’s Office for the filing of a complaint for Theft (Salisi). The allegations remain subject to investigation and the appropriate judicial process, with the suspect entitled to due process under the law.

“Police response must be timely and grounded on facts, especially in cases where evidence may be crucial in establishing what happened. We will ensure that every complaint is properly acted upon and that the law is applied fairly,” said PNP Chief PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr.

“Maging mapagmatyag tayo sa ating mga gamit at agad humingi ng tulong sa pulis kapag may nawawala o may kahina-hinalang pangyayari,” he added.

DIGITAL TRAIL EXPOSES ONLINE SEXUAL EXPLOITATION, LEADS TO TEEN’S ARREST

The Philippine National Police, under the command of PNP Chief PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., arrested an 18-year-old Filipino man, alias “Robert,” in San Jose de Buenavista, Antique, following an entrapment operation involving the alleged sexual exploitation and harassment of his 17-year-old girlfriend on August 23, 2026.

Operatives of the Antique Provincial Cyber Response Team (PCRT) of the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) conducted the operation after the minor victim, accompanied by her guardian, sought police assistance over threats involving her intimate images and videos.

Investigation showed that alias “Robert” allegedly groomed and manipulated the victim into a romantic relationship. During their relationship, he asked permission to record an intimate encounter using the victim’s mobile phone, which she allowed under the belief that the recording would remain private.

On August 16, 2026, an argument between the two reportedly led to the suspect threatening to share the intimate videos with others. Further investigation established that he had allegedly gained unauthorized access to the victim’s iCloud account, enabling him to access the intimate recordings stored there.

PNP Chief PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. underscored that the case demonstrates how digital evidence can help law enforcement identify and apprehend individuals who exploit technology to victimize children.

“The PNP will remain relentless in pursuing offenders who use technology to threaten, manipulate, or exploit children. Every piece of digital evidence matters in building cases and protecting victims,” the PNP Chief said.

The operation also reflects the PNP’s Focused Agenda, particularly its priority on Integrity Monitoring, as the organization strengthens accountability and responsible action in addressing emerging threats in the digital environment.

Alias “Robert” is facing charges for violation of Article 286 (Grave Coercion) of the Revised Penal Code and Section 4 of Republic Act No. 11930, or the Anti-Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) and Anti-Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials (CSAEM) Act of 2022, both in relation to Section 6 of Republic Act No. 10175, or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.

PNP Chief PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. also urged victims and families to immediately seek police assistance when faced with online threats or exploitation.

“Hindi dapat maging kasangkapan ang teknolohiya sa pananakot at pagsasamantala sa mga menor de edad. Pananagutin natin ang sinumang gagamit nito upang takutin o kontrolin ang isang bata,” he added.

The arrest highlights the PNP’s firm resolve to protect children from technology-enabled sexual exploitation and ensure that perpetrators face the consequences of their actions.

As the PNP strengthens its protection of vulnerable sectors under the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., it assures the public of “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat, at Nararamdaman.”

CIDG CAPTURES IN SULTAN KUDARAT A NATIONAL MWP WITH REWARD FOR ALLEGED MURDER AND TERRORISM

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and joint PNP and AFP units have scored a major victory for national security following the successful arrest of a high-profile national fugitive with monetary reward — wanted for alleged murder and terrorism.

On August 21, 2026 at around 9:35 AM , the CIDG Sultan Kudarat Provincial Field Unit, together with the PNP Special Action Force, Philippine Army, Intelligence Group, Police Regional Office 12, and territorial police units conducted a manhunt operation in Brgy Udtong, Lambayong, Sultan Kudarat that resulted in the arrest of a national level fugitive by virtue of Warrants of Arrest for Murder (2 cases), and violation of Republic Act No. 11479 (The Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020) issued by Tacurong City, Sultan Kuldarat and Iligan City, Lanao Del Norte courts on June 4, 2021, October 5, 2021, and June 15, 2023, respectively — all without recommended bail.

A report that reached PMGEN Robert AA Morico II, the Director of CIDG, stated that the arrested male accused, of legal age, is listed as National Most Wanted Person with PhP 145,000.00 monetary reward pursuant to DILG Memorandum Circular. He is also tagged as Regional Most Wanted Person of Police Regional Office 12, Provincial Most Wanted Person of Sultan Kudarat, and Municipal Most Wanted Person of Lambayong Municipality.

During the service of the arrest warrants, the accused resisted arrest, and engaged in a brief armed confrontation with the law enforcement team. He sustained injuries and was rushed to the nearest hospital for immediate medical attention.

CIDG BUSTS PHP 15.2 M ALLEGED ILLICIT CI******ES, NABS 4 IN LANAO DEL SUR

On August 21, 2026 at around 4:30 AM to 11:30 AM, the CIDG Lanao del Sur Provincial Field Unit, together with the Marantao Municipal Police Station, in coordination with the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO), conducted a law enforcement operation against importation and transportation of alleged smuggled ci******es in Barangay Matampay, Marantao, Lanao del Sur that resulted in the arrest of four (4) male suspects, and the confiscation of 561 master cases of alleged illicit ci******es with an estimated value of PhP 15,290.000.00. Two vehicles/vans used in the transportation of the ci******es were also impounded.

A report that reached PMGEN Robert AA Morico II, the Director of CIDG, stated that the four suspects were caught while in possession and control, and transporting the ci******es without the required Graphic Health Warnings, and BIR tax stamp.

The CIDG Director emphasized that pursuant to Republic Act No. 10863 (Customs Modernization and Tariff Act), the State modernizes and streamlines customs and tariff administration to enhance revenue collection, to facilitate legitimate trade, to prevent and suppress smuggling and other customs fraud, and to promote efficiency, transparency, and integrity in customs service. Smuggled ci******es are illegal primarily because bringing them across borders bypasses mandatory customs duties and excise (sin) taxes. This illegal importation circumvents regulatory laws denies the government essential public health revenue, and undercuts legitimate, law-abiding businesses.

Meanwhile, the absence of Graphic Health Warnings on cigarette packages strips away the most effective psychological and visual barrier against smoking.
The State recognizes that based on empirical data, text warnings have been shown to be insufficient in conveying the dangers of to***co products while Graphic Health Warnings have been shown to be more effective in conveying the truth about the dangers of exposure and consumption of to***co smoke.

The CIDG leadership commends PLTCOL Eugene A Balugo, the Officer-In-Charge of the CIDG Regional Field Unit 15 (Bangsamoro Autonomous Region), and the CIDG Lanao del Sur Provincial Field Unit led by PLT Nashib B Mantar for successfully busting a significant amount of alleged smuggled ci******es, and arresting four violators of the law. The operation underscores the CIDG’s unyielding fight against smuggling and economic sabotage nationwide.
