DOLE Secretary Francis N. Tolentino delivered a special video message during the opening of the Kalayaan Job Fair at various job fair sites in Metro Manila on June 12, 2026, in celebration of the 128th Philippine Independence Day.

In his message, Secretary Tolentino pays homage to the service and sacrifices of our national heroes for our freedom and to the fact that we continue that legacy by creating opportunities to empower Filipino workers.

He expressed his gratitude to all partners and participating sectors for their unwavering commitment and support in making government services more accessible to the public.

โ€œSa ating mga employers na sumama at lumahok ngayon sa ating job fair, taos puso din po akong nagpapasalamat sa inyo. Nawa ay matulungan natin ang ating mga kababayan na magkaroon ng trabaho at umuwi na may magandang balita para sa kanilang mga pamilya,โ€ he said.

Reflecting this collective commitment, the Department of Labor and Employment โ€“ National Capital Region (DOLE-NCR) has recorded 1,408 Hired-On-The-Spot (HOTS) applicants to date through its Independence Day job fairs. The number is expected to increase as DOLE-NCR continues to conduct the remaining Kalayaan Job Fairs across the region this June, providing more employment opportunities for jobseekers.

DOLE-NCR organized the event through its Field Offices and in partnership with the Public Employment Service Office Association of Metro Manila (PAMM).

Following the first activity yesterday, June 11, at SM Valenzuela, the job fairs conducted today were held at these sites:

โ€ข SM Sangandaan, Caloocan City
โ€ข SM Sucat, Paraรฑaque City
โ€ข Taguig City University Auditorium
โ€ข Robinsons Las Piรฑas
โ€ข SM Center Las Piรฑas
โ€ข SM East Ortigas, Pasig City
โ€ข SM Megamall, Mandaluyong City
โ€ข SM Marikina
โ€ข Robinsons Novaliches, Quezon City
โ€ข Double Dragon Plaza, Pasay City

As of press time, 1,015 local and overseas employers have confirmed participation, collectively providing 44,630 job opportunities across various industries: Manufacturing, Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), Wholesale and Retail Trade, Construction, Transport and Logistics, Food & Beverage, Hospitality, and more.

The said event also features a one-stop shop for pre-employment requirements and advisory services with participating agencies, including the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG Fund, Social Security System (SSS), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Philippine National Police (PNP), Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), and Department of Migrant Workers (DMW).

HAPPENING NOW (JUNE 12, 2026): In the celebration of 128th Kalayaan Day, Department of Labor Secretary Francis Tolentino upholds commitment of the department in providing employment for Filipino Job Seekers through DOLE Trabaho Agad Job Fair at Robinsons Novaliches.

In his statement, Secretary Tolentino stressed the significance of Independence Day to serve as an opportunity to empower Filipinos through meaningful employment and making government services accessible.

Through the DOLE-NCR Quezon City Field Office and in coordination with the Quezon City Public Employment Service, the job fair was made possible featuring 51 local employers ready to hire on the spot.

In solidarity, the event was also graced by the presence of OIC-Undersecretary Gerard Mosquera, together with officials and personnel from DOLE-NCR Quezon City Field Office led by Field Office Director Rowella V. Grande; Quezon City Public Employment Service Rogelio L. Reyes; Operations Director of Robinsons Novaliches Ms. Marilou M. Rhom; and Vice President for Research, Advocacy, and Partnerships Federation of Free Workers Mr. Julius H. Cainglet.

DOLE Secretary Francis N. Tolentino gives a message of support via video during the opening of the One-Stop Shop service caravan in observance of the 2026 World Day Against Child Labor (WDACL) at the Quezon City M.I.C.E Center.

In his message, Secretary Tolentino highlighted that strengthening child labor prevention and protection policies and programs is vital in ensuring that no child returns to the life of a laborer. Likewise, he also underscored that this initiative is not only a responsibility of one sector, but rather, it is a collective and collaborative worldwide movement to rid the country and the world of child labor.

โ€œAng tema ng bansa sa pagdiriwang ng World Day Against Child Labor sa buong buwan ng Hunyo ay โ€œIkaw, Ako, Tayo: Sama-samang Pagkilos para sa Batang Malayaโ€. Ito ay nagbibigay-diin sa ating patuloy na pagsusumikap na higit pang paigtingin ang sama-samang pagkilos upang tuluyang wakasan ang child labor sa bansa. Ipinapaalala nito na ang pagsugpo sa child labor ay isang magkatuwang na pananagutan na nangangailangan ng aktibong pakikilahok ng lahat ng sektor ng ating lipunan upang maisakatuparan natin ang ating adhikain na isang bansang malaya sa child labor,โ€ he said.

Organized by the Quezon City Public Employment Service Office (PESO), in partnership with the DOLE-NCR Quezon City Field Office, said service caravan aims to provide immediate assistance and services to profiled child laborers โ€” one of the interventions aligned with the national theme: "Ikaw, Ako, Tayo: Sama-samang Pagkilos para sa Batang Malaya."

PRESS RELEASE: As of press time, a total of 38,593 job vacancies will be offered during the 128th Philippine Independence Day to be conducted across 16 sites in Metro Manila on June 11, June 12, June 16, June 17, June 24 and June 26, 2026.

The Department of Labor and Employment โ€“ National Capital Region (DOLE-NCR) will lead the event in partnership with the Public Employment Service Offices (PESO) of the participating LGUs, and private establishments.

Tolentino has ordered the full centralization of the processing, evaluation, and issuance of Alien Employment Permits (AEPs) at the DOLE Central Office, effective 09 June 2026, as part of efforts to strengthen oversight and ensure the uniform implementation of labor regulations concerning foreign nationals seeking employment in the Philippines.

Under Administrative Order No. 199, Series of 2026, all DOLE Regional Offices shall immediately cease accepting, processing, evaluating, and issuing both new and renewal AEP applications, with all transactions to be handled exclusively by the Central Office.
