To promote safer and more reliable agricultural and fisheries machinery, BAFE conducted the MFADDIEs Forum cm Workshop and Capacity Development on Agri-Fishery Manufacturing/Fabrication on August 26โ€“28, 2026, in Region XII.

The three-day training gathered manufacturers, fabricators, assemblers, distributors, dealers, importers, and exporters (MFADDIEs) of agricultural and fisheries machinery, Regional Agricultural Engineering Divisions (RAEDs), along with personnel from BAFE .

The activity addressed gaps identified through BAFEโ€™s monitoring of after-sales service compliance, particularly the provision of proper operatorโ€™s manuals for machinery sold in the market.

Under Republic Act No. 10601 or the Agricultural and Fisheries Mechanization (AFMech) Law, machinery industry stakeholders are required to provide after-sales service and warranty. A complete operatorโ€™s manual helps farmers and fisherfolk understand the proper and safe operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of their machinery.

The hands-on training covered operatorโ€™s manual standards and technical writing, parts and specifications, operations and safety, maintenance, troubleshooting, and servicing. Participants also developed and presented draft operatorโ€™s manuals based on actual machinery, allowing them to apply the standards to their own products.

Through the activity, BAFE strengthened the technical capacity of the local machinery industry while promoting compliance with national standards. More than compliance, the initiative aims to contribute to safer operations, better equipment use, and longer-lasting machinery for Filipino farmers and fisherfolk.

๐‹๐Ž๐Ž๐Š | The Bureau of Agricultural and Fisheries Engineering (BAFE), through the Standards Regulation and Enforcement Division (SRED), together with the University of the Philippines Los Baรฑos - Agricultural Machinery Testing Center (UPLB-AMTEC), successfully conducted the ๐‘๐ž๐Ÿ๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ๐ก๐ž๐ซ ๐‚๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ฌ๐ž ๐จ๐ง ๐“๐ž๐ฌ๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐š๐ง๐ ๐„๐ฏ๐š๐ฅ๐ฎ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐€๐ ๐ซ๐ข๐œ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ญ๐ฎ๐ซ๐š๐ฅ ๐š๐ง๐ ๐๐ข๐จ๐ฌ๐ฒ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ž๐ฆ๐ฌ ๐๐จ๐ฐ๐ž๐ซ ๐š๐ง๐ ๐Œ๐š๐œ๐ก๐ข๐ง๐ž๐ซ๐ฒ on August 24โ€“28, 2026, in Iloilo City, Region VI.

The five-day activity brought together Agricultural and Biosystems Engineers (ABEs) from the Regional Field Offices, Local Government Units (LGUs), and Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) across Region VI and the Negros Island Region (NIR).

The training aimed to develop, equip, and enhance the technical capabilities of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineers (ABEs) in the delivery of technical services, particularly in the testing and evaluation of agricultural and biosystems power and machinery, equipment, and facilities. It further sought to strengthen the participantsโ€™ knowledge and skills in the proper application, interpretation, and implementation of the Philippine National Standards (PNS) and Philippine Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Standards (PABES) in testing and evaluation activities.

The training also emphasized the proper use, calibration, handling, and maintenance of testing equipment and instruments, as well as the proper preparation and interpretation of test reports, to ensure that testing activities are conducted systematically and that results are accurate, reliable, consistent, and properly documented.

Through this initiative, BAFE continues to strengthen the technical competencies of ABEs and promote the effective and standards-based delivery of testing and evaluation services in the agricultural and biosystems engineering sector.

Led by Engr. Francis Glenn Miro and Engr. Trishia O. Flores-Japones of BAFE-SRED, together with Engr. Rel-Mark Salivio of RAED XII, the team visited 10 MFADDIEs across North Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and South Cotabato.

These visits are more than compliance checks. They are opportunities to listen, guide, and strengthen industry partners so they can better serve farmers with safe, reliable, and quality agricultural machinery.

Through the Agricultural and Fisheries Mechanization Law (AFMech Law), BAFE oversees the registration of MFADDIEs, provision of after-sales services, and compliance with applicable standards, requirements, procedures, and timelines.
