๐ˆ๐ ๐๐‡๐Ž๐“๐Ž๐’: The Coast Guard District Palawan (CGDPAL) participated in the Simultaneous Nationwide Flag Raising Ceremony held at the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, on 07 September 2026, in support of the Maritime and Archipelagic Nation Awareness Month (MANA Mo) 2026,
carrying the national theme, "Karapatan sa Karagatan, Sama-sama Nating Alagaan.โ€

The ceremony brought together Coast Guard personnel in a display of discipline, unity, and pride in service, while honoring the Philippine flag and the values it represents.

More than a Monday morning tradition, the activity served as a timely reminder of the Philippinesโ€™ identity as a maritime and archipelagic nationโ€”one whose people, communities, livelihoods, and way of life are deeply connected by the sea.

Anchored on this yearโ€™s theme, 'โ€œKarapatan sa Karagatan, Sama-sama Nating Alagaan,โ€CGDPAL joins the nation in promoting greater maritime consciousness and awareness of the countryโ€™s maritime identity, rights, resources, and responsibilities.

Through its participation, CGDPAL continues to uphold the Philippine Coast Guardโ€™s mandate of ensuring maritime safety, maritime security and marine environmental protection while contributing to the collective effort to protect and preserve the countryโ€™s maritime domain.

๐‹๐Ž๐Ž๐Š: The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) commenced the development of Vessel Support Facilities (VSF) at Buliluyan Port, Bataraza, Palawan through a kick-off meeting held on September 3, 2026.

In partnership with the UNODC - United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), and the U.S. Department of Stateโ€“Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), the kick-off meeting provided a venue for the participating agencies and stakeholders to establish a common understanding of the projectโ€™s objectives, scope, implementation arrangements, responsibilities, coordination mechanisms, and succeeding activities.

During the meeting, UNODC presented the proposed implementation framework covering the design, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning, and eventual handover of the facilities.

The project aims to strengthen the operational capabilities of the PCG by providing improved vessel support infrastructure for sustained maritime patrols, surveillance, and rapid response operations in Southern Palawan.

The development of the VSF is expected to enhance the PCGโ€™s operational readiness and support the effective delivery of its mandate in maritime safety, maritime security, maritime law enforcement, search and rescue, and marine environmental protection.

The successful conduct of the kick-off meeting marks an important step toward the development of modern and responsive maritime infrastructure in the area. The participating agencies reaffirmed their commitment to sustained coordination and cooperation to ensure the effective and timely implementation of the project in support of a safer, more secure, and more capable maritime sector.

The initiative further demonstrates the commitment of the PCG and its partner agencies to strengthen maritime infrastructure and operational capabilities in strategic areas of the country, ultimately contributing to improved public service and protection of the Filipino maritime community.

Aligned with the PCGโ€™s Intensified Community Assistance, Awareness, Response, and Enforcement (iCARE) Program and the Bagong Pilipinas vision, the initiative underscores the PCGโ€™s commitment to strengthening its capabilities and presence in strategic maritime areas while continuing to build a safer and more secure maritime environment for every Filipino.
