𝗠𝗟𝗚𝗢𝗢 𝗜𝗡 𝗔𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡: 𝗗𝗜𝗟𝗚 𝗔𝗥𝗔𝗖𝗘𝗟𝗜
In celebration of Linggo ng Kabataan 2026, MLGOO Aizel Jane C. Delos Angeles of DILG Araceli, Palawan joined the local youth in recognizing this year’s theme, “Different Contexts, Common Aspiration,” which highlights the diversity of experiences, backgrounds, and circumstances of young people while emphasizing their shared hopes for a better, safer, and more inclusive future.
Despite coming from different communities and facing different challenges, the youth share common aspirations for opportunities, meaningful participation, peace and security, quality education, and a community where they can grow and reach their full potential. The celebration served as a reminder that the voices and perspectives of young people are essential in shaping responsive programs, policies, and initiatives at the local level.
As part of the MLGOO Delos Angeles’ continuing efforts to strengthen local governance and community safety, an Orientation on DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2026-037 on Safer School Zones was likewise conducted under the government's Safer Cities and Safer Communities Initiative last August 13, 2026 at the Executive Conference Room, New Government Center, Barangay Tinintinan, Araceli, Palawan.
The orientation brought together Punong Barangays, Barangay Secretaries, and Chief Tanods to strengthen their understanding of their respective roles in promoting safe and secure school zones. The activity emphasized the importance of coordinated community action in addressing safety concerns around schools, particularly those involving traffic, pedestrian safety, road risks, and other conditions that may affect the welfare of learners, teachers, and other school stakeholders.
The orientation also underscored that creating safer school zones is not the sole responsibility of law enforcement or the school administration. It requires the active participation of the barangay, local government, school community, parents, and other stakeholders. Through proper coordination, preventive measures, and community-based interventions, barangay officials and tanods can contribute significantly to creating an environment where children and young people can safely travel to and from school and participate in school activities.
The conduct of these activities reflects the continuing commitment of MLGOO Delos Angeles to bring DILG policies and programs closer to the community, strengthen the capacity of local officials, and promote meaningful youth participation and safer communities.
From celebrating the common aspirations of the youth to building safer spaces where those aspirations can flourish, MLGOO Delos Angeles remains committed to advancing responsive, inclusive, and community-centered local governance.
