July 15, 2026: Healthy employees build a stronger workplace. By promoting Malaria awareness and prevention, we help create safer work environments where everyone is equipped to protect themselves, their families, and their communities.

The Vector-Borne Diseases Prevention and Control Program Puerto Princesa City conducted a Wellness Talk on Malaria last Wednesday for the employees of Delta P, Inc. The session provided participants with essential knowledge on Malariaโ€”its signs and symptoms, mode of transmission, effective preventive measures, and the importance of early diagnosis and prompt treatment.

To further strengthen Malaria prevention efforts, our team also conducted blood smearing for early malaria detection and distributed Long-Lasting Insecticidal Nets (LLINs) to help protect employees and their families from mosquito bites.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Delta P, Inc. for partnering with us in promoting a healthier and malaria-free workplace. Special thanks also to Dra. Kristine Faith Evina-Rama for sharing her expertise and delivering an insightful talk on Malaria, inspiring participants to know it, prevent it, and end it.

June 24-26, 2026: The journey to a malaria-free Puerto Princesa doesn't end in the city properโ€”it reaches every household, even in our northernmost communities.

The Vector-Borne Diseases Prevention and Control Program Puerto Princesa City - Malaria Response Operations Center carried out LLIN distribution and blood smearing in the barangays of Tanabag, Binduyan, and San Rafael to protect vulnerable communities and strengthen malaria surveillance.

Every mosquito net distributed helps reduce the risk of malaria transmission, while every blood smear contributes to the early detection and prompt response needed to safeguard public health.

Our sincere appreciation goes to the barangay officials, health workers, and community members for their cooperation and support in making this activity a success.

June 26, 2026: In observance of the National Dengue Awareness Month, Dr. Joel Victor P. Rabanal, Head of the Ospital ng Palawan โ€“ Public Health Unit, invited Dr. Kristine Faith P. Evina-Rama, Rural Health Physician of the Puerto Princesa City Health Office, to join a special dengue awareness discussion through their radio program aired on Radyo Pilipinas Palawan.

During the program, Dr. Rabanal and Dr. Rama highlighted the importance of early consultation, recognizing the warning signs of dengue, and eliminating mosquito breeding sites in homes and communities. They also emphasized that preventing dengue is a shared responsibility that requires the active participation of every household and community.

We encourage everyone to watch the program to learn more about dengue prevention, warning signs, and practical steps to protect your family and community.

The Vector-Borne Diseases Prevention and Control Program Puerto Princesa City successfully conducted the Bayanihan sa Barangay Targeted Indoor and Outdoor Residual Spraying initiative in Barangay Maligaya, bringing together barangay officials, Barangay Committee on Health personnel, and volunteers to strengthen vector-borne disease prevention and control efforts at the community level.

The activity began with a brief IEC session on dengue and malaria delivered by Program Coordinator Kent Ventura, followed by the Targeted Indoor and Outdoor Spraying Orientation and Training. Participants were equipped with the knowledge and practical skills needed to conduct Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS), with the hands-on demonstration and supervision led by Nathaniel Regla.

Following the training, the newly trained personnel immediately applied their learning by conducting supervised IRS operations in selected households within the barangay. To support the sustainability of these efforts, Barangay Maligaya was provided with IRS spray cans, personal protective equipment (PPEs), and an initial supply of insecticides. Participants were also oriented on the importance of continuous monitoring and reporting of spraying activities.

The Vector-Borne Diseases Prevention and Control Program is proud to report significant progress in the distribution of Insecticide-Treated Screens (ITS) to day care centers across Puerto Princesa City.

With 172 out of 174 target day care centers already served, the program has achieved an impressive 98.85% accomplishment rate, bringing us closer to our goal of providing safer learning environments for young children.

Through this initiative, we continue to strengthen our efforts in reducing the risk of mosquito-borne diseases and promoting healthier communities where children can learn, play, and grow safely.

June 22, 2026: Distance is never a barrier when it comes to protecting communities from malaria.

Despite the long travel to one of the farthest barangays in Puerto Princesa City, the Malaria Response Operations Center of the Vector-Borne Diseases Prevention and Control Program Puerto Princesa City remained committed to delivering essential malaria prevention and surveillance services in Barangay Langogan.

Through the conduct of blood smearing activities and Long-Lasting Insecticidal Net (LLIN) distribution, residents were provided with important interventions that support early malaria detection and protection against mosquito bites. These efforts help ensure that even geographically distant communities continue to have access to vital public health services.

The dedication of our field personnel, together with the active participation of community members, reflects a shared commitment to keeping Barangay Langogan healthy and resilient against vector-borne diseases.

As part of ongoing malaria prevention and surveillance efforts, the Malaria Response Operations Center of the Vector-Borne Diseases Prevention and Control Program Puerto Princesa City conducted blood smearing activities and Long-Lasting Insecticidal Net (LLIN) distribution in Barangays Simpokan and Bagong Bayan last June 18โ€“19.

Blood smearing remains an essential tool for the early detection and monitoring of malaria cases, while LLINs provide an added layer of protection against mosquito bites, helping reduce the risk of malaria transmission within households and communities.

These activities highlight the importance of proactive community participation in safeguarding public health. Through the collective efforts of residents, barangay officials, and health workers, we continue to strengthen local malaria prevention initiatives and move closer to a healthier, malaria-free Puerto Princesa City.

No Saturdays off when it comes to protecting our communities from vector-borne diseases.

On June 20, 2026, the Vector-Borne Diseases Prevention and Control Program Puerto Princesa City conducted a Vector Control Management Operation at Tiniguiban Elementary School, carrying out both fogging activities and Search and Destroy operations to help reduce mosquito populations and eliminate potential breeding sites within the school premises.

As the rainy season approachesโ€”a period when dengue cases commonly increase due to the abundance of mosquito breeding sitesโ€”these preventive measures become even more important. Through early intervention and active school participation, we can help reduce the risk of dengue transmission and create a safer learning environment for everyone.

Together, let us maintain a clean and mosquito-free environment through the practice of Search and Destroy, regular cleanup activities, and active participation from students, teachers, school personnel, and parents.
