𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞 | 7th Puerto Princesa City Youth Festival kicks off with Save the Bay: Youth Edition

Youth leaders and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials from across the city gathered today, August 30, at Barangay Bagong Sikat for the official opening of the 7th Puerto Princesa City Youth Festival (PPCYF), highlighting its second year of the Save the Bay: Youth Edition.

The event commenced with a morning Zumba session prior to the opening ceremony. Punong Barangay Hon. Alberto M. Alib delivered the welcome address, followed by messages from SK Federation President Hon. Karl Dylan N. Aquino, DILG City Director Dennis Beltran, and City Youth Development Officer Ralph Richard M. Asuncion, who emphasized the crucial role of youth involvement in coastal preservation.

Following the program, participants engaged in a mud throw activity aimed at shoreline rehabilitation before proceeding to the Scoop Basura challenge.

Through the collective efforts of the participating youth organizations, a total of three truckloads of garbage were collected and retrieved from the coastline during the cleanup.

The three organizations with the highest number of trash collected were selected to receive awards, which will be officially presented tomorrow during the PPCYF 2026 closing ceremony.

The annual festival continues to serve as a platform for environmental action and community engagement among the local youth.
