ENSURING SAFETY AND SECURITY FOR THE 2026 PALARONG PAMBANSA IN AGUSAN DEL SUR

LOOK: RECU 13 EIRT Secures Venue for the Visit of Usec. Malcolm S. Garma During Palarong Pambansa 2026

Personnel of the Regional Explosives and Canine Unit 13 (RECU13) Headquarters Explosive Incident Response Team (EIRT) conducted security coverage on May 12, 2026, at Bayugan West Central Elementary School in Bayugan City, Agusan del Sur, in preparation for the visit of Undersecretary Malcolm S. Garma to the billeting quarters of delegates participating in the 2026 Palarong Pambansa.

The operation was led by PSMS Niño C Bianan, Assistant Team Leader and Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician (EODT), under the supervision of PLT GINO S TABADA EIRT, Team Leader.

Also deployed during the activity were: PMSg Mon Albert O Todlas, EODT, PMSg Mark Jaffu B Mondejar, EODT, and PCpl Alberto S Ruaza, K9 Handler.

The team conducted thorough security measures through paneling and K9 sniffing operations to inspect the area and ensure that it was free from any explosive or hazardous materials.

This proactive security effort was undertaken to guarantee the safety and security of Undersecretary Garma, as well as the athletes, coaches, and delegates participating in the 2026 Palarong Pambansa.

The operation commenced at 10:50 AM and concluded at 11:15 AM with negative results for any hazardous or explosive materials and no untoward incidents reported.

The PNP-EOD/K9 Group remains steadfast in its commitment to safeguarding major events and ensuring a secure environment for all.

In line with the intensified security preparations for the upcoming Palarong Pambansa 2026 and in support of the PNP Focused Agenda on Enhanced-Managing Police Operations, personnel of PNP-EOD/K9, RECU 13 conducted a Pre-Deployment Briefing on May 10, 2026 at ADS PPO, Camp D.O. Plaza, Brgy. Patin-ay, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur.

The activity was spearheaded by PCPT JOEL P MANCIA, Team Leader/EOD Technician, together with PLT GINO S TABADA, OIC, RECU13, and participated in by EIRT Teams composed of EOD Technicians and K9 Handlers who will be deployed in connection with the security operations for the said national sporting event.

During the briefing, operational guidelines, deployment plans, security protocols, coordination procedures, and contingency measures were discussed to ensure the readiness and effective performance of all deployed personnel. The activity likewise emphasized discipline, vigilance, teamwork, and the commitment of the PNP-EOD/K9 Group in maintaining a safe and secure environment throughout the conduct of the event.

The successful conduct of the pre-deployment briefing reflects the preparedness and dedication of RECU 13 personnel in delivering responsive and proactive security operations in support of national events and public safety.

In line with the PNP Focused Agenda on Enhanced Managing Police Operations, on May 4, 2026, the personnel of PECU Agusan del Sur led by PCPT JOEL P MANCIA, Team Leader together with the personnel from RECU13 Headquarters supervise by PMAJ KAROL JOSEPH A RICAFORT, OIC, RECU13, under the command of PBGEN ROGELIO Z RAYMUNDO, JR., Director PNP - EOD / K9 Group and other key government agencies, and stakeholders, attended the 2026 Palarong Pambansa Multi-Agency Send-Off Ceremony for orderly and peaceful historical national sporting event in Agusan del Sur. The said activity was initiated and graced by Hon. Santiago B. Cane Jr., Governor, Province of Agusan del Sur.
