IN PHOTOS: PCPC and PCAT-VAWC Functionality Assessment!💜
Provincial Council for the Protection of Children (PCPC) and Provincial Committee Against Trafficking–Violence Against Women and their Children (PCAT-VAWC) Functionality Assessment conducted on May 5, 2026 at the Provincial Learning Center, Government Center, Patin-ay, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur.
The activity aimed to assess and ensure the proper functionality, compliance, and effectiveness of the province’s child protection and anti-VAWC mechanisms, confirming that established structures, policies, and services are properly implemented and operational.
The assessment was facilitated by the Regional Inter-Agency Monitoring Task Force (RIMTF) and Regional Inter-Agency Monitoring Team (RIMT) – Caraga, who provided technical evaluation and guidance to strengthen local inter-agency coordination and service delivery.

Look || Prioritizing the safety of our young athletes, the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) in partnership with PGAS- Sports Development Services and Department of Education conducted an Orientation on the Child Protection Policy during the Palaro to Agsur General Orientation for Palarong Pambansa qualifiers under the in-house training program.
The activity gathered athletes from various provinces across the Caraga Region, equipping them with essential knowledge on their rights, safety, and protection as they prepare for higher levels of competition. This initiative reinforces the commitment to ensuring a safe, supportive, and child-friendly sports environment for all participants.
The program was made possible through the strong support of the Provincial Government of Agusan del Sur (PGAS), under the leadership of Governor Santiago B. Cane, Jr., and Vice Governor Patricia Anne B. Plaza, together with 2nd District Representative Adolph Edward G. Plaza, and 1st District Representative Alfelito M. Bascug, whose continued commitment to youth development and welfare strengthens initiatives that protect and empower young athletes across the province.

LOOK || Strengthening policies for children’s welfare in Agusan del Sur

The Provincial Council for Children convened on March 25 at the Provincial Learning Center (PLC) in Patin-ay, Prosperidad to advance the updating of the Children’s Code, reinforcing the province’s commitment to safeguarding the rights and well-being of every child.

Participants were enriched with valuable technical inputs on the Local Children’s Code delivered by Krysta Ryedel P. Antoni-De Jose, Regional Coordinator of the Regional Committee for the Welfare of Children (RCWC) Caraga. This was followed by a collaborative writeshop where stakeholders actively shared insights and contributed to enhancing the provisions of the code.

The session concluded with the presentation of outputs and a strong call for collective action, highlighting the shared responsibility of all sectors in promoting and protecting children’s welfare in Agusan del Sur.

In celebration of National Women's Month, the vibrant women of Barangay 5 gathered on March 13, 2026, for a meaningful activity that highlighted the vital role of women in building strong and progressive communities.

The celebration brought together women leaders, mothers, youth, and community members in a spirit of unity, empowerment, and advocacy for women’s rights and gender equality.

Through engaging discussion by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office along with the Rural Health Unit of San Francsico, participants celebrated the achievements of women while reaffirming their commitment to promoting respect, protection, and equal opportunities for all women and girls.

The color purple represents justice, dignity, and women’s rights, serving as a powerful reminder of the continuing efforts to promote gender equality, women empowerment, and inclusive development in our communities.

Through Purple Fridays, employees, partners, and stakeholders express solidarity in recognizing the vital role of women in nation-building and in advocating for a society where women and men enjoy equal opportunities and rights.
