Fresh from the 2026 South East Asia Green Coffee Competition: Philippines National Round in Bukidnon, coffee farmer Mario Joey Tacan and his wife, Thelma Tacan, visited the Department of Agriculture - Regional Field Office XII in Koronadal City on June 1, 2026, to proudly share their recent achievement.
Mario Joey Tacan was recognized for producing specialty Robusta coffee that garnered a score of 85.96, placing his entry among the Top 10 selected coffees in its category during the national competition held from May 29 to 31, 2026.
Their recognition highlights the growing competitiveness of Region XII's coffee industry and serves as an inspiration to fellow coffee farmers striving to produce high-quality, market-ready coffee. The achievement also reflects the potential of local coffee producers to excel in specialty coffee markets through dedication, innovation, and continuous quality improvement.

The Local Government Unit of Polomolok officially welcomed its newly appointed department heads following the oath-taking ceremony administered by Mayor Bernie D. Palencia.

Among those who formally assumed office is 𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐂. 𝐃𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐨𝐚𝐧, 𝐑𝐀𝐠𝐫, who has been appointed as the new Municipal Agriculturist of the 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭 (𝐎𝐌𝐀𝐠).

The Office of the Municipal Agriculturist (OMAg) – Polomolok, headed by Municipal Agriculturist 𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐂. 𝐃𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐨𝐚𝐧, 𝐑𝐀𝐠𝐫., in partnership with the Provincial Veterinary Office – South Cotabato, successfully conducted the 𝐃𝐨𝐠 & 𝐂𝐚𝐭 𝐂𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 and 𝐀𝐧𝐭𝐢-𝐑𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐕𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 of Barangay Poblacion.

The successful conduct of the activity was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Provincial Veterinary Office – South Cotabato under the leadership of 𝐁𝐲𝐫𝐨𝐧 𝐅. 𝐃𝐞𝐥𝐚 𝐂𝐫𝐮𝐳, 𝐃𝐕𝐌, and the Barangay Local Government Unit of Poblacion under the leadership of Barangay Captain 𝐇𝐨𝐧. 𝐉𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞 𝐁𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐲𝐚𝐧, whose support and coordination greatly contributed to the successful implementation of the program. The initiative was also supported by the Municipal Government of Polomolok under the administration of Mayor Bernie D. Palencia in promoting animal welfare and responsible pet ownership within the municipality.

Pet owners from the barangay actively participated and brought their pets to avail of the free veterinary services aimed at controlling the stray animal population and strengthening rabies prevention efforts for a safer and healthier community. 🩺🐾

Through collaborative efforts, OMAg Polomolok and the Provincial Veterinary Office – South Cotabato continue to work towards a healthier, safer, and rabies-free Polomolok for both people and animals. 💚

Under the leadership of Mayor Bernie D. Palencia and Municipal Agriculturist 𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐂. 𝐃𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐨𝐚𝐧, 𝐑𝐀𝐠𝐫, the activity aims to strengthen biosecurity measures and sustain the ASF-free status of swine populations in Polomolok through active surveillance and monitoring. Blood samples collected from selected swine farms will undergo laboratory testing to ensure the absence of African Swine Fever (ASF), a vital requirement for RAS-ASF certification.

The collaboration between OMAg Polomolok and the Provincial Veterinary Office–South Cotabato reflects the local government’s commitment to safeguarding the livelihood of hog raisers, ensuring food security, and supporting the continued growth and recovery of the livestock sector.

OMAg Polomolok also encourages all hog raisers to remain vigilant and continue practicing proper farm biosecurity measures while immediately reporting any unusual signs or illnesses among swine to the authorities.

Together, let us protect and strengthen the local livestock industry for a safer and more resilient agricultural community.

Farmers from different barangays in Polomolok gathered yesterday at the Municipal Agriculture Organic Composting Facility in Upper Matin-ao, Silway 8 for the official distribution of certified RCEF Palay Seeds for Wet Season 2026 under the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) Program.

The activity was conducted in support of the municipality’s continued efforts to strengthen rice production and ensure that local farmers receive quality certified seeds for the upcoming planting season. Through the distribution of “Dekalidad na Binhing Palay,” farmers are expected to achieve improved productivity and higher rice yields.

The initiative was supported by Municipal Mayor Bernie D. Palencia, Committee Chairman on Agriculture 𝐇𝐨𝐧. 𝐁𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐁𝐞𝐫𝐭 𝐁𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐬 𝐉𝐫., Municipal Agriculturist 𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐂. 𝐃𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐨𝐚𝐧, 𝐑𝐀𝐠𝐫, and Rice Coordinator 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐋𝐲𝐧 𝐒. 𝐃𝐮𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐬, 𝐑𝐀𝐠𝐫, whose continued commitment to the agricultural sector contributes to the advancement of farming communities in Polomolok.

The activity was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Department of Agriculture, Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice), LGU Polomolok, and the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist (OMAg) Polomolok in delivering programs that empower and uplift local farmers.
