PINUKPUK, Kalinga โ The Chico River Integrated Development Project (CRIDP) is set to be officially launched through the upcoming Lumin-awa 10.3 Chico River Road-to-Trail Challenge 2026, following a multi-agency coordination meeting held on May 28, 2026, at the headquarters of the 103rd Infantry Battalion in Sitio Kapanikian, Camalog, Pinukpuk, Kalinga.
The coordination meeting was initiated by LTC Jimrhic B. Obias INF (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer of the 103rd Infantry Battalion, and presented by CPT Noel L. Bagispas (QMS) PA, in partnership with the Provincial Government of Kalinga and participating government agencies.
The activity focused on finalizing preparations for the Lumin-awa 10.3 Challenge, including logistics, security measures, emergency response protocols, and inter-agency coordination to ensure the successful conduct of the event, which will also serve as the formal launch platform for CRIDP.
Participating agencies included the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine National Police (PNP) Tabuk, Tourism Office, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO), and the Philippine Red Cross.
The Lumin-awa 10.3 Chico River Road-to-Trail Challenge 2026 aims to promote eco-tourism, strengthen road and trail connectivity, support environmental protection and river conservation, and generate sustainable livelihood and economic opportunities for communities along the Chico River corridor.
Furthermore, the launch of the CRIDP through the sporting event underscores the provinceโs commitment to integrated development efforts that combine tourism, environmental stewardship, infrastructure connectivity, and community participation.
The initiative also forms part of the commemoration of the 4th Anniversary of the 103rd Infantry Battalion under the theme, โApat na Taon ng Nagkakaisang Paglilingkod โ Dedikasyon at Tapat na Serbisyo para sa Kalinga.โ
Originally scheduled for June 14, 2026, the Lumin-Awa Chico River 10.3km Road-to-Trail Challenge 2026 has been officially moved to June 27, 2026.
