"PA-BIBU NI HEPE": BUILDING STRONGER POLICE-COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS THROUGH SPORTS

June 29, 2026 || The personnel of Pinamungajan Municipal Police Station, led by PCPT MICHAEL JOHN J BAร‘ES, Officer-in-Charge, joined a friendly basketball exhibition game with the Barangay Tanibag officials and residents of Brgy. Tanibag, Pinamungajan, Cebu, as part of the station's continuing Police Community Relations (PCR) efforts.

The activity formed part of the OIC's best practice, "Pa-Bibu ni Hepe," which aims to strengthen police-community partnership through sports, camaraderie, and meaningful community engagement. As a gesture of appreciation and encouragement, the Most Valuable Player (MVP) from the partnered community was awarded a sack of rice, a coconut, and a Certificate of Recognition. The sack of rice symbolizes sustenance and support for the family, while the coconutโ€”known as the "Tree of Life"โ€”represents resilience, growth, and the enduring partnership between the police and the community.

Through initiatives like this, the Pinamungajan MPS continues to foster mutual trust, unity, and active community participation, recognizing that peace, order, and public safety are best achieved through a strong partnership between the police and the community.

PINAMUNGAJAN COPS NAB SUSPECT FOR VIOLATION OF RA 10591; RECOVER STOLEN MOTORCYCLE

PINAMUNGAJAN, CEBU โ€“ A 27-year-old suspect was arrested for violation of RA 10591 by personnel of the Pinamungajan Municipal Police Station in Barangay Poblacion on June 14, 2026.

Police acted on a report from a complainant who identified his stolen Honda Click 125 motorcycle, which had previously been reported as carnapped in Cebu City and was already the subject of a criminal case. After verification, the complainant positively identified the suspect, who was later seen driving the allegedly carnapped motorcycle along a barangay road in Barangay Poblacion, Pinamungajan, Cebu. Consequently, responding police officers immediately pursued the suspect in an effort to recover the motorcycle.

During the pursuit, the suspect lost control of the motorcycle after hitting a roadside gutter and fell to the ground. The suspect then abandoned the motorcycle, and continued to flee on foot. During the chase, the suspect discarded a fi***rm in an apparent effort to avoid being caught in possession of the fi***rm. Through the combined efforts of the pursuing officers and the local community, the suspect was eventually cornered, subdued, and placed under police control. Recovered from the scene were the stolen Honda Click 125 motorcycle and one (1) caliber .38 revolver loaded with three (3) live am******on.

Based on the SGLG-IF Project Monitoring and Assessment Narrative Report from the DILG Region VII provides that "The project was also implemented within the allocated budget and in accordance with the approved plan and specification".

During the turn-over ceremony of the Construction of Comfort Room at Public Beach Brgy. Tajao, Regional Director Leocadio T. Trovela, CESO III of the DILG Region VII through LGOO VI Rommel Correa said the following words for LGU Pinamungajan:

"This comfort room facility, made possible through the Support to the Good Local Governance Incentive Fund (SGLGIF) of the Department of the Interior and Local Government, stands as a testament to what can be achieved when good governance is translated into tangible results for the people. From quality materials to thoughtfully designed amenitiesโ€”showers, sinks, and well-maintained bathroomsโ€”this project was built not just to comply with standards, but to exceed expectations. Located along our public beach, this facility serves a purpose far greater than convenience. It benefits our beachgoers, our residents, our visitors, and our local economy. More importantly, it upholds the dignity of every person who uses it. In this way, the project becomes more than a comfort roomโ€”it becomes a symbol of care, respect, and inclusive development.

To the Local Government Unit of Pinamungajan, this achievement reflects your continued commitment to serve with pride, transparency, and accountability. It shows that when resources are managed responsibly and guided by integrity, the outcomes directly uplift the quality of life of the community. The DILG remains a steadfast partner in this journeyโ€”guiding, supporting, and strengthening our local governments so that every project funded becomes a lasting investment for the people. This collaboration reinforces the principle that good governance is not only measured by policies, but by how those policies improve everyday lives.

May this facility stand as a landmark of progress and as a reminder that when government listens, plans well, and works together, the people always benefit.

Daghang salamat sa inyong pagsalig, suporta, ug pakig-uban. Padayon kita sa pag-alagadโ€”para sa katawhan, para sa kaayohan sa tanan, ug para sa mas maayong Pinamungajan."
