In his opening message, ATI-RTC V Center Director ๐๐ซ. ๐๐จ๐๐ฒ ๐. ๐๐๐ฅ๐๐ซ๐ฆ๐ข๐ง๐จ emphasized that BAEC, ATIโs flagship extension course under its Competency-Based Curriculum Framework, equips AEWs with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to effectively facilitate and lead the implementation of the National Urban and Peri-Urban Agriculture Program (NUPAP). He highlighted the importance of linking research and development with extension services, applying appropriate extension approaches and strategies, and adapting to the evolving needs of communities to ensure impactful and sustainable program outcomes.
Now on its third day, participants have completed sessions on agricultural extension fundamentals, trends, key players, extension approaches, strategies and methods, extension modalities and innovations, communication competencies, and social mobilization strengthening their capacity to become effective frontliners in advancing urban and peri-urban agriculture and food security initiatives.
As the course progresses, participants look forward to the remaining sessions on community engagement and immersion, where they will apply their learnings and strengthen their role as catalysts of change for urban and peri-urban agriculture development.
