The Training on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) on Coconut Production and Management was successfully conducted on February 25โ27, 2026 at Brgy. Jones, Pastrana, Leyte, with the active participation of 32 coconut farmers from the municipality. ๐ด
The three-day activity aimed to enhance the farmersโ knowledge and skills in proper coconut farm establishment, cultural management practices, pest and disease management, soil fertility improvement, harvesting techniques, and post-harvest handling. Emphasis was placed on the adoption of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) standards to ensure increased productivity, improved product quality, environmental sustainability, and farmersโ safety.
The training featured valuable discussions from resource speakers Mr. Oliver A. Costimiano, President of the BAFA, and Mr. Dionesio G. Jacinto Jr., Agricultural Extension Worker on High Value Crops and Commercial Crops (HVCC) from the Municipal Agriculture Office. They shared practical insights, technical updates, and field-based experiences to help farmers enhance their coconut production and farm management practices.
This activity was facilitated and sponsored by the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) as part of its continuing support in strengthening the capacity of coconut farmers and promoting sustainable agricultural development.
