The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office conducted the 3rd batch of the Capacity Development Program on Basic Life Support for Local Government Unit employees on June 24, 2026 at the City of Passi 24/7 Operation Center, 3rd Floor, City of Passi Commercial Complex.
Representatives from the City Treasurer's Office, City Accounting Office, City Budget Office, City Planning and Development Office and Office of the Sangguniang Panlungsod participated in the training.
The activity was organized to strengthen the emergency response capabilities of government employees. In medical emergencies and unexpected incidents, immediate and proper action can significantly improve a person's chances of survival and recovery. As public servants who regularly interact with the community, government personnel may be among the first to respond when emergencies occur in workplaces or public areas.
Participants first completed a pre-test to assess their knowledge and familiarity with Basic Life Support concepts. The results also helped instructors identify topics that required greater emphasis during the training.
The lecture sessions covered BLS Emergency Action Principles, Introduction to Basic Life Support, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Automated External Defibrillator (AED) use, rescue breathing, and Foreign Body Airway Obstruction (FBAO) management.
Following the lecture sessions, participants completed a post-test to measure their understanding of the topics discussed and evaluate learning gained throughout the training.
Instructors then demonstrated the proper procedures for adult and infant CPR with AED use, as well as adult and infant FBAO management. The participants later performed hands-on exercises on adult FBAO management and underwent skills evaluations for adult and infant CPR.
The training forms part of the city's continuing efforts to equip its workforce with practical life-saving skills and improve preparedness for emergency situations.
