The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) is the country's premier socioeconomic planning and policy coordination body, highly regarded as the authority in macroeconomic forecasting and policy
analysis and research. It provides high-level advice to policymakers in Congress and the Executive Branch. Within NEDA, the NPPS provides technical analysis and support in the formulation of national development plans and policies (eg, Philippine Development Plan). It evaluates and conducts studies on macroeconomic plans and policies, in aid of policy formulation, monitoring and evaluation. It also monitors macroeconomic performance and prepares various economic reports. This includes monitoring of international macroeconomic developments that may affect the macroeconomic competitiveness and stability of the country. In order to carry out its tasks, NPPS likewise develops macroeconomic models and other statistical tools for macroeconomic planning, forecasting and policy analysis.
