RAVE (Rainforest Adventure Experience)
In the heart of a prosperous and highly urbanized city, who could ever imagine that a Rainforest Park would ever exist? An added brow-raising question would be is how this Rainforest Park can be a one-stop pot of experiences for its amazing facilities and services that can be offered to the tourists, more so to Pasigueños. Regardless if you want to escape the
heat of summer by just simply relaxing on the pool or if you want to treat your family in a zoo and experience the different breath-taking adventure thrill rides the park can offer, these will also be possible. The answer --- the newly improved RAVE of Pasig City. RAVE Park before was more known as the Rainforest Park which was constructed in the year 1977 during the administration of former Mayor Emiliano Caruncho. A two parcel of land, totalling 4.8 hectares in Barangay Maybunga which was strategically located at the heart of Pasig became an ideal open space for a town gradually turning into an urban community. During those times, the aim of the “project” was just to be a “recreational park” with emphasis on nature and environmental care. It was composed of an oval for joggers, clubhouse, mini Olympic swimming pool, cottages, tennis courts, children’s playground, fitness gym, parking spaces and landscaping. From 1984 to 1985 another 2.10 hectares of land was added to the original site, and on that same year, the swimming pool became fully operational. The part of the perimeter fence was constructed as a sports gym and a basketball court. When Pasig became a City in 1996, the City Council of Pasig passed an ordinance making Rainforest as “The Rainforest City Park” wherein the whole area consisted of approximately 6.90 hectares. In 2013, the City Government of Pasig decided to develop or improve the Pasig City Rainforest Park to a fresh and new look so tourists will be enticed and fascinated and to provide more exciting activities for the youth. Thus, the birth of the Rainforest Adventure Experience came or what is more known as “RAVE” now. The renovation period as well as its (RAVE) improvement started last August 2011 and were finished on the 28th of February, 2013. Most of the facilities found here were renovated and there are also some newly-constructed ones such as the “Boating Lagoon”, “Chess Pavilion”, “Zip line”, “Obstacle Course” and “aMaze Garden”. The plants found there will make you feel good, and will make you really experience the ambiance in a forest though you may be in a City. RAVE is divided into three (3) areas, namely; the (1.) the RAVE Mini Zoo and (3) RAVE Park. The acronym RAVE which stands for Rainforest AdVenture Experience was conceptualized by then Hon. Pasig City Mayor Robert “Bobby” Eusebio and his wife Arch. Maribel A. Eusebio (now the elected Mayor of Pasig). They wanted to have a family oriented park wherein every member of the family will surely enjoy and will definitely have a wonderful time. Even tourists who will come and visit the place will definitely love it. MISSION:
