MANINDIGAN PARA SA MGA ISKOLAR NG BAYAN!

Millions of students in state universities and colleges will be affected by the widespread budget cuts affecting 49 educational institutions under the 2027 General Appropriations Act.

While the education system continues to be underfunded and undersupported, public coffers are being diverted to unprogrammed funds and patronage spending that serves the financial and political interests of the ruling class.

It is imperative for us to stand with our fellow iskolar ng bayan, as we continue to struggle for free, accessibly, quality, and safe education.

Let us demonstrate the strength and unity of the youth against the corrupt and anti-student 2027 national budget!

SERBISYO SA TAO, HUWAG GAWING NEGOSYO!

Members of SPARK - Katipunan marched alongside other progressive groups against the existing regime as Marcos and Sec. Garin continue to show little to no urgency towards the deepening energy crisis.

As the price of petroleum and electricity continue to surge in the midst of crisis, so does the ire of the youth and progressive sector and their desire for an alternative kind of future led by the working class.

NEVER AGAIN TO MARTIAL LAW!

Ngayong ika-54 na anibersaryo ng deklarasyon ng Batas Militar, ang mga miyembro ng SPARK-Katipunan ay kumilos kasama ang iba’t ibang mga progresibong grupo para alalahanin ang mga biktime ng diktaduryang Marcos at ang mga kasalukuyang biktime ng pandarahas ng estado.

54 na taon na mula sa deklarasyon ng Batas Militar, higit 40 na taon na mula noong ipinabagsak ang rehimeng Marcos, ngunit hanggang ngayon ay libu-libong Pilipino ay mga biktime ng parehas na kapitalistang sistema na lubos na pinalaganap ng administrasyong Marcos. Noong administrasyong Duterte, libu-libo ang pinaslang sa kaniyang “War on Drugs” at bumalik rin ang Batas Militar para sa Mindanao. At ngayon, Marcos ulit ang nakaupo sa Malacañang, at sabay nq inaabuso rin ang mga karapatang pantao ng masang Pilipino.

Kabataan, panindigan natin ang sinasabing “Never Again!” Huwag nating hayaan na paulit-ulit tayong dinadahas ng estado! Ituloy natin ang laban hangga’t maabot natin ang sosyalistang lipunan na ikabubuhay ng proletaryo ng Pilipinas at ng buong mundo.

| Members of SPARK stood alongside the working class today, demanding for an ₱85 wage increase amidst poverty and starvation wages among the masses.

Tolentino's anti-labor policies are not a new low, but merely a reflection of the existing capitalist system which faces its riot shields against workers while those who have stolen billions go untouched.

85-PESO WAGE HIKE NOW!

| Members of SPARK - Katipunan took the streets of Katipunan and Aurora Ave. stickering the call to implement the 85 peso wage increase in Metro Manila.

Workers have long lambasted the decision by the Pasig Regional Trial Court Branch 152 under Judge Joyce Manongsong to suspend the implementation of Wage Order 27 at the behest of Readycon Trading and R-II Builders.

Yet despite this judicial overreach in violation of the Labor Code, the Department of Labor and Employment under Francis Tolentino has refused to definitely stand on the side of workers. He has flipped and flopped but ultimately failed to defy the Court's unlawful order.

The State continues to show its true face to the working class. The ruling class of political and economic elite continue to flex their power, money, and strength to deprive workers of the value derived from their labor. This violence is an injustice that we must not let pass as the progressive youth and the future generation that will inherit society.

As students and members of the youth sector whose issues are similarly ignored by the elite seated in government, the fight of the working class is just as much our own. When capitalists, cronies, and the ruling class unite to block a beneficial wage increase for workers instead of opening their eyes to the flood of hardships and rising commodity prices plaguing the common Filipino, it becomes increasingly clear that the current order must change. In this radical fight for progress, we call for fair wages and solidarity with our workers.

We resolutely join the workers of Metro Manila and the Philippines in this struggle! Mabuhay ang uring manggagawa! 85 pesos wage increase, ipatupad!

SPARK - Katipunan, with the entire Ateneo community, mourns the deaths of two students in Ateneo de Zamboanga. We are one in the call for urgent mental health support for all victims and families, and agree with the need for privacy as families' grieve and the issue develops.

We condemn the culture of violence that has created this shooting incident. Violence does not exist in isolation. The violence committed today reflects the violence that occurs everyday, the violence that the Filipino youth have always been exposed to.

The children of this country have seen how thousands were slain in their communities at the orders of President Duterte. We have seen how armed goons of landgrabbers, big businessmen, and politicians tear apart homes and workers' picketlines. We have seen how the police and military are used by politicians to cement their own power by the use of guns, to silence opposition with imprisonment or death.

For schools to truly be safe spaces, we must fight to create a society where structural violence is not the norm. We must fight for systemic change everyday, everywhere, until violence like this stops once and for all.

Dasurb ng kumpanyang ito ang pagkamuhi ng taumbayan gayong di lang nila pinagkaitan ng dagdag sahod ang sariling empleyado kundi lahat ng manggagawa sa NCR sa pag-file nito ng injuction sa Pasig RTC para i-TRO ang region-wide salary increase.

Kung hindi niya kayang paswelduhin ang kanyang mga empleyado, huwag siyang magnegosyo, wala siyang karapatan magnegosyo. Walang pumipilit sa kanya at lalong huwag niyang idamay ang pamilya ng milyong manggagawa na umaasa.

ATENEO, ‘WAG NA KAYO MAGHUGAS KAMAY! NEGLIGENT DIN KAYO!

SPARK - Katipunan vehemently condemns the statements Ateneo has made regarding Coach Tab Baldwin. Today, Ateneo has stated that Baldwin is allegedly a “consultant” and not a University “employee.”

We acknowledge that having coaches as consultants is regular practice in the Philippine sports industry. However, we question this distinction and its implications. For so long, why did Ateneo allow its student-athletes to embark on out-of-campus trips without proper safety protocols, all because Baldwin was not a University employee? Why did Ateneo entrust the safety of their students to someone who was not, allegedly, completely accountable to the University?

With reports from previous Ateneo men’s basketball players publicly detailing questionable methods of coaching—why did Ateneo never step in? This attempt to wash their hands of responsibility and pin the deaths of Rene Baterbonia and Chukwuemeka Divine Adili on Baldwin, reveals a worse reality: Ateneo was negligent. Ateneo failed to protect its students.

CIDG, HOLD ATENEO ACCOUNTABLE! DO NOT USE STUDENTS AND WORKERS AS SCAPEGOATS!

SPARK - Katipunan expresses alarm over CIDG Secretary Jonvic Remulla’s suggestion to file cases against student managers and ball boys over the deaths of late student-athletes Rene Baterbonia and Divine Adili.

We are one with the entire Ateneo community and the entire country’s call for truth, justice, and accountability. To genuinely achieve these three things, we assert that all eyes should be on those in power: Coach Tab Baldwin, other associate coaches, Ateneo University President Father Bobby Yap, and officials from the University Athletics Office.

We assert that student managers and ball boys do not have the same decision-making power as officials from these bodies do. Filing cases against these students and workers distracts us from the real issue at hand: the Ateneo administration and Men’s Basketball Team completely failed to care for its students.

Ateneo must be held accountable! We must be sharp and deliberate with our fact-finding for the truth!
