PAF NARAA President Meets OA9 Officers, Explores Possible Collaboration on Reservist and ROTC Programs

Pasay City – Retired Brigadier General Gerardo M. Zamudio Jr., newly elected President of the Philippine Air Force National ROTC Alumni Association, Inc. (PAF NARAA), met with officers of OA9, Philippine Air Force, to explore possible areas of collaboration in supporting the PAF Reservist and ROTC programs.

The meeting, attended by LtCol Paul Espera and Maj Fatima Sajili of OA9, provided an overview of their current projects under the functional supervision of OA9. Ret. BGen Zamudio informed them that PAF NARAA wishes to come up with projects that will support Air Force programs to ensure its continued relevance and meaningful support to the PAF’s mission. One of the key topics discussed was the proposal for PAF NARAA to participate in the PAF Reservist Day celebration through the creation of a NARAA Reservist Award. The award would recognize outstanding leadership, community service, and the enduring cadet spirit of exemplary reservists. Nominations would be drawn from units of the Air Force Reserve Command (AFRC) and NARAA chapters nationwide, with final awardees jointly selected by AFRC and NARAA. According to them, the initiative will not only honor outstanding reservists but also inspire others to uphold the ROTC values of service, discipline, and patriotism.

Ret. Brig. Gen. Zamudio also committed to prepare detailed project proposals for PAF NARAA Board approval, after which he intends to meet with Col. Henry Estoesta, Chief of Air Staff for Retirees and Reservist Affairs (A9) and Col Nestor Etis, Deputy A9, also a NARAA member, to explore the possible integration of the proposed project into official PAF activities. In addition, Gen. Zamudio committed to support the public information requirements of PAF’s annual reservist and ROTC programs. He announced that PAF NARAA is planning to launch its own radio program soon on DWIZ, 99.9 DWGV FM in Batangas, 972 kHz DWGV AM in Pampanga, and DWDD AFP Radio in Metro Manila. Among the annual programs of OA9 where PAF NARAA can provide public affairs support are the National Reservist Week, Simultaneous Fun Runs for Reservists, media guestings featuring reservist commanders, public officials, and artists, as well as museum tours and heritage activities.

PAF NARAA Incorporates PhilSCA AFROTC Cadet Officers as Part of Membership Expansion

Pasay City – The Philippine Air Force National ROTC Alumni Association, Inc. (PAF NARAA) formally incorporated the Advance ROTC (AFROTC) cadet officers of the Philippine State College of Aeronautics (PhilSCA) into its nationwide alumni network during a solemn ceremony held on September 20, 2025, at the PhilSCA Main Campus, Piccio Garden, Pasay City.

The ceremony, highlighted by the donning of ranks and oath-taking of membership, marked a historic milestone under PAF NARAA’s school-based membership expansion program, which was recently approved by its Board of Directors, Chaired by Ret Major General Gilbert Llanto, at Villamor Air Base.

Retired Brig Gen Gerardo M. Zamudio Jr., NSTP Coordinator of PhilSCA and newly elected President of PAF NARAA, opened the event by stressing the deeper meaning of the occasion. According to him, the donning of ranks for the AFROTC cadet officers was more than a simple ritual but a solemn recognition of their readiness to lead, their willingness to shoulder responsibility, and their commitment to uphold the values of discipline, courtesy, and patriotism. He added that their formal integration into NARAA signifies entry into a proud network of ROTC graduates who continue to live by the ideals of service and love of country, while gaining access to a community of mentors, colleagues, and fellow leaders across military and civilian fields.

Serving as Guest of Honor and Speaker, Retired Brig Gen Robert Theodore S. Romero underscored that the ranks worn by the cadets symbolize service and leadership built on discipline, sacrifice, and responsibility. He explained that leadership is not measured by the number of people who salute, but by the number of lives inspired. He also reminded the cadet officers that their training and rank are not meant for personal glory, but for service to their corps, their school, and ultimately to the nation. He challenged them to lead by example, uplift others, and remain grounded in humility.
The newly recognized members of NARAA pledged their Oath of Membership, vowing to uphold the ideals of patriotism, discipline, courtesy, and service to God, country, and people.

Through this incorporation, PhilSCA’s AFROTC program is further strengthened, ensuring that its graduates continue to live the values of leadership and nation-building under the banner of the PAF NARAA.
