684 Beneficiaries Oriented, Contracted Under TUPADโBrigada Eskwela in San Pedro City
In line with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Memorandum dated May 28, 2026, directing all Regional Offices to fast-track the implementation of the TUPAD-Brigada Eskwela program in support of the Department of Educationโs (DepEd) Brigada Eskwela initiative, the DOLE Laguna Provincial Office successfully conducted the Orientation and Contract Signing for 684 TUPAD beneficiaries on May 26, 2026.
The activity was spearheaded by Ms. Lorena Gacosta, TUPAD Focal Person and Senior Labor and Employment Officer, together with DOLE Laguna OIC Provincial Head Herbert M. Matre, Senior Labor and Employment Officer, and the TUPAD Coordinators of the DOLE Laguna Provincial Office who facilitated the smooth conduct of the orientation and contract signing.
The undertaking formed part of the governmentโs continuing commitment to provide emergency employment opportunities to disadvantaged and displaced workers while assisting public schools in preparing for the opening of classes for School Year 2026โ2027.
Under the program, the beneficiaries will render ten (10) days of work beginning May 28, 2026, focusing on the maintenance, repair, clean-up, and improvement of school facilities to help ensure safe, clean, and conducive learning environments for students and teachers. The total project cost amounted to Php 4,357,080.00.
During the orientation, beneficiaries were thoroughly briefed on the objectives of the TUPAD-Brigada Eskwela program, work assignments, safety and health protocols, as well as the responsibilities expected of them during the implementation period. The contract signing officially confirmed their participation in the program prior to deployment.
The beneficiaries will be deployed to 28 public schools across San Pedro City, Laguna, covering a mix of elementary, integrated, and national high schools strategically located in various barangays. This deployment ensures wide coverage of school facilities in support of program implementation within the city.
The implementation of the TUPAD-Brigada Eskwela program highlights the strong collaboration between DOLE, DepEd, local government units, and school communities in ensuring that public schools are prepared and ready for the incoming school year.
At the same time, the initiative provides immediate financial assistance and temporary employment to workers in need, especially those affected by economic challenges and displacement. Through programs such as TUPAD, the government continues to promote inclusive opportunities while empowering communities through meaningful and productive work.
DOLE Laguna reaffirmed its commitment to effectively implement programs that not only provide livelihood assistance but also contribute to nation-building through community participation and support for the education sector.
