PH President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. at the 82nd UNESCAP Session: Leaving No One Behind โ Advancing a Society for All Ages ๐
In his special message delivered at the opening of the 82nd Session of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), President Marcos Jr. emphasized:
โIn the Philippines, we endeavor to go beyond ensuring that no one is left behind. We set the priority of reaching those furthest behind first.โ
This principle is embedded in key national frameworks โ the Philippine Development Plan, the Philippine Plan of Action for Senior Citizens, and the Philippine Population and Development Plan of Action โ integrating population dynamics into development strategies at both national and local levels.
With nearly 11 million elderly Filipinos and around 30 million youth aged 15โ30, the Philippines faces a unique demographic reality. The President highlighted the importance of empowering both the young and the elderly, not out of necessity, but out of dignity, productivity, and choice.
Let us build societies that are inclusive, resilient, and responsive to all generations. ๐ค๐
