A HIGH RISK OF LIFE-THREATENING STORM SURGE may occur in the next 48 hours. There is a possibility of inundation from rising sea water along with high waves in the low-lying coastal communities in the provinces/municipalities of:

DINAGAT ISLANDS, EASTERN SAMAR, LEYTE, SAMAR (WESTERN SAMAR), SURIGAO DEL NORTE
🟠 Estimated storm surge heights: 2.1-3 meters

The DILG Regional Office 08 in partnership with the DILG Tacloban City Operations Office, the City Government of Tacloban and Barangay 109a will officially launch the Kalinga at Inisyatiba para sa Malinis na Bayan (KALINISAN) Program with Barangay 109a, Tacloban City as the showcase barangay on January 6, 2024 at Phase 2B Covered Court, 7:00 AM.
The program aims to raise awareness and encourage participation among the Filipino Citizens on environmental responsibility through proper solid waste management; encourage LGUs to invest in programs, projects and activities on solid waste management and ecological practices; and set up recognition system for the cleanest LGUS.
