DepEd Region VIII Supports Balikbayang Manggagawa through the SPIMS Program
Regional Director Salustiano T. Jimenez expressed strong support for Balikbayang Manggagawa during the National Reintegration Network Regional Fair and Kumustahan, anchored on the theme “Pagbabalik, Pagkakaisa, at Paglaya: A Migrant Workers' Month and Kalayaan Day Celebration,” held on June 11, 2026 at the Leyte Normal University (LNU) HRDC Gym in Tacloban City.
Organized by the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Region VIII, the event brought together returning overseas Filipino workers, government agencies, and partner organizations to celebrate resilience, unity, and new opportunities for reintegration.
In his message of support, Director Jimenez highlighted the role of education and skills development in empowering migrant workers and their families. He emphasized DepEd Region VIII’s commitment through the SPIMS Program, which supports initiatives that help Balikbayang Manggagawa transition successfully into productive and sustainable livelihoods in their communities.
“The journey home is not the end of a dream, but the beginning of a new chapter. Through programs like SPIMS, we stand with our Balikbayang Manggagawa in building brighter futures, strengthening families, and contributing to the growth of our communities,” Director Jimenez shared.
The gathering also served as a venue for networking, sharing success stories, and connecting participants with reintegration services and support programs from various government agencies.
DepEd Region VIII remains committed to fostering partnerships that uplift migrant workers and promote inclusive community development.
