Ayon sa 2024 Functional Literacy, Education and Mass Media Survey (FLEMMS) na ibinahagi ng Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), 93.1% ng mga Pilipinong nasa edad 10 hanggang 64 ang may batayang karunungang bumasa't sumulat (basic literacy). Subalit, humigit-kumulang 70.8% lamang ng mga Pilipinong nasa edad na ito ang may kakayahang umunawa. Ang 22.3% na puwang ay nagpapakita ng katotohanan sa gitna ng mataas na porsyento ng literacy rate sa Pilipinasโ€” may kinakailangang punan; may patlang na kinakailangan ng kasagutan.

Sa ating pagdiriwang ng Araw ng Pagbasa, alalahanin natin ang ating layunin: ang kagustuhang matamasa ang kalidad ng edukasyon na kayang magbigay-daan sa bukas na puno ng pag-asa.
