On May 20, 2020, the national government launched the Balik Probinsya, Bagong Pag-asa (BP2) Program which aims to decongest Metro Manila and promote growth in the province.
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) provided buses to accommodate the first batch of 121 beneficiaries bound for Palo, Leyte.
Once re-settled in Leyte, the beneficiaries will be provided access to employment and livelihood opportunities to help boost rural development, as the program also aims for provinces to become more productive and self-sustaining.
