Special Forces Regiment strengthens camaraderie and resilience through Fun Run and Swim Relay
FORT RAMON MAGSAYSAY, Palayan City, Nueva Ecija — In a powerful display of physical endurance, camaraderie, and peak combat readiness, the Special Forces Regiment (Airborne) (SFRA), Special Operations Command (SOCOM), Philippine Army, led by Brigadier General James M. Uri PA, successfully conducted Fun Run and Swim relay competiton at the Regiment Headquarters at Fort Magsaysay on April 26, 2026.
The athletic event served as one of the major pre-anniversary activities leading up to the Regiment’s highly anticipated 64th Founding Anniversary on June 25, 2026. This year's celebration centers on the theme: "Matatag na Lingkod Bayan para sa Bagong Pilipinas."
Four (4) teams composed of Officers and Enlisted Personnel of the Regiment actively participated in the competition, which featured a demanding 6.4-kilometer run followed by a high-intensity 50-meter swim relay. The participating teams demonstrated exceptional stamina, synchronization, mental toughness, and warrior spirit throughout the physically demanding event.
According to BGen Uri, the activity is more than just a sports competition; it is a vital benchmark to ensure that the personnel of the Army's premier special operations unit remain cohesive, resilient, and inherently mission-ready at all times.
"As we approach our 64th year of elite service to the nation, this competition tests not only the physical limits of our operators but also fortifies the bond and teamwork essential in the field. Our transition to a more agile force means we must constantly remain resilient and mission-ready to face any security challenge," BGen Uri stated.
The event seamlessly aligned with the national vision of a “Bagong Pilipinas,” highlighting the military’s role in nation-building through a professional, highly disciplined, and physically fit workforce. The teams demonstrated fierce but fraternal competition, showcasing the elite standards that the Special Forces Regiment (Airborne) is known for.
