𝗥𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗠𝗕𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗩𝗜𝗩𝗜𝗔𝗡 𝗕. 𝗔𝗥𝗖𝗢𝗬𝗢-𝗕𝗥𝗢𝗪𝗡

The National Museum of the Philippines- Tabon Cave Complex and Lipuun Point mourns the passing of 𝗠𝘀. 𝗩𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗕. 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗼𝘆𝗼-𝗕𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗻, whose dedicated service formed an important chapter in the history of the National Museum of the Philippines in Palawan.

During her years of service, what is now the National Museum of the Philippines – Tabon Cave Complex and Lipuun Point was known as the National Museum – Palawan Field Station. As its head, Ms. Vivian led its operations and oversaw the protection and maintenance of the Tabon Caves Archaeological Site Reservation. She supervised personnel, supported archaeological and scientific research, coordinated with local authorities and visiting researchers, and helped expand the Field Station beyond its role as a research station into a place for visitors, exhibitions, and community engagement.

Her leadership extended to heritage, tourism, community development, and environmental stewardship. Under her leadership in 1981, the National Museum implemented the construction of the dam and Watershed Reforestation Project at the Museum Park in Quezon, a place that continues to be locally known among Quezonians as “Musyom.” The project became the National Museum’s official entry to the inter-agency Rural Service Project Contest, where it competed alongside other national government agencies, won First Prize, and received the Presidential Trophy for Outstanding Community Service Project. More than an infrastructure and environmental initiative, the project reflected her vision of a Museum that could serve not only as a center for research and heritage, but also as a meaningful partner in addressing the needs of the local community and protecting its environment.

She also oversaw the improvement of facilities and visitor infrastructure at the Tabon Caves and contributed to the advancement of the Tabon Cave Complex Comprehensive Development Plan.

Through her years of stewardship, Ms. Vivian helped strengthen the National Museum’s presence in Palawan and its role in protecting and sharing the heritage of the Tabon Caves. The institution she helped lead has since grown into the National Museum of the Philippines – Tabon Cave Complex and Lipuun Point, continuing the work to which she devoted many years of her life.

We honor her legacy of leadership, service, and dedication to Palawan’s cultural heritage. May her contributions continue to be remembered by the generations who discover, learn from, and care for the heritage she helped protect.
