ICYMI // FOOD REDEMPTION of WALANG GUTOM 2027: FOOD STAMP PROGRAM of DSWD

Last December 7, 2024, the Evacuation Center in Palapag, Northern Samar, became the venue for a significant activity under the Walang Gutom Program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). The food redemption initiative was a collaborative effort between the DSWD and local government units to ensure that vulnerable families in the municipality had access to essential food items.

Beneficiaries of the program, which primarily targets underprivileged households, were able to redeem their food stamps for items such as rice, vegetables, canned goods, and other nutritious staples. This event not only addressed immediate hunger concerns but also underscored the commitment of the government to improve food security and uplift the welfare of those in need.

Local officials, community leaders, and program coordinators facilitated the smooth implementation of the redemption activity. Beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the assistance, which provided much-needed relief during the holiday season. The program also served as a reminder of the importance of collaborative action in addressing poverty and hunger at the grassroots level.
