The Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG) is implementing the 2026 Search for Model Barangays in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) to recognize exemplary barangays and promote good governance at the grassroots level.

The Office of the Liga ng mga Barangay sa Pilipinas – Maguindanao del Sur Chapter, headed by Hon. Datu Soud Sultan Matalam, LnB President, was invited to participate as one of the validators/evaluators. The validation team was led by the Provincial Director of Maguindanao del Sur, Engr. Amina T. Dalandag, Ph.D., together with evaluators from the Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO) and Kadtabanga.

In Maguindanao del Sur, five barangays were selected as potential participants in the 2026 Search for Model Barangays (SMB). These are:

1. Barangay Kauran, Ampatuan
2. Barangay Fukol, Talayan
3. Barangay Mao, Datu Abdullah Sangki
4. Barangay Talisawa, Datu Abdullah Sangki
5. Barangay Digal, Buluan

The validation activity was successfully conducted, achieving its goal and objectives of assessing and validating the five potential barangays for the 2026 Search for Model Barangays. This initiative highlights the commitment to recognizing exemplary barangays and strengthening good governance at the grassroots level.

Barangay Talisawa, Datu Abdullah Sangki, Mag. del Sur
Barangay Muti, Guindulungan, Mag. del Sur
Barangay Fukol, Talayan, Mag. del Sur

The Provincial Search Committee (PSC) was only organized naming Datu Soud S. Matalam, President Liga ng Mga Barangay sa Pilipinas Maguindanao del Sur Chapter as one of its committee member to validate the recognition of exemplary barangays and promote good governance at the grass roots level.

𝗔𝗣𝗥𝗨𝗕𝗔𝗗𝗢 𝗻𝗮 𝘀𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 ang panukalang 𝗠𝗮𝗴𝗻𝗮 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗮 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝘆𝘀 matapos pagtibayin ng Committee on Local Government ng House of Representatives of the Philippines ang substitute bill — hudyat ng patuloy na pag-usad ng panukalang batas para sa kapakanan, proteksyon, at benepisyo ng ating mga barangay officials at workers sa buong bansa.

Naisulong ang serye ng konsultasyon, deliberasyon, at pakikipag-ugnayan sa mga mambabatas at stakeholders upang matiyak na ang panukala ay tunay na tumutugon sa kondisyon ng mga lingkod-barangay. Pinangunahan ito ni Committee Chairman Florencio T. Miraflores at Vice Chairperson Ma. Victoria Co-Pilar, katuwang ang Liga ng mga Barangay sa Pilipinas sa pangunguna ni National President Jessica Dy.

Kasunod ng committee approval, inaasahang ihahain ang panukala sa plenaryo ng House of Representatives of the Philippines para sa Second Reading, kung saan tatalakayin, dedebatehan, at maaaring amyendahan ang mga probisyon ng panukala bago ito umusad sa susunod na yugto ng legislative process.

"1ST QUARTER HYBIRD JOINT COUNCILS MEETING (PDC, PPOC,PADAC,PDRRMC, & PESWMB)"

LnB Provincial President, Board Member Datu Soud S. Matalam, attended the 1st Quarter Hybrid Joint Councils Meeting of the Provincial Development Council (PDC), Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC), Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC), Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC), and Provincial Ecological Solid Waste Management Board (PESWMB). The meeting, held at the Provincial Capitol in Buluan, was presided over by Provincial Governor, Hon. Datu Ali M. Midtimbang, Sr.

The session brought together key stakeholders and council members to address pressing concerns, including updates on LGU mandatory plans and annual accomplishments, the clearing of water tributaries, security developments, fire-related incidents, anti-drug initiatives, weather reports, and long-term projections for municipal waste management.

BM Matalam expressed his strong support for collaborative governance and underscored the critical importance of effective coordination between local government units and partner agencies to ensure the delivery of responsive and impactful public services to the people of Maguindanao del Sur.
