The second day of the DENR Express: Permitting on Wheels (POW) at CityMall Dipolog, Dipolog City successfully concluded its two-day run, with the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office IX (MGB-IX) logging a major milestone by serving a total of 159 clients, project proponents, and mining stakeholders.

Day 2 Highlights:

✅ 1 Safety Inspector’s Permit successfully issued

✅ 3 Ore Transport Permits processed

✅ 1 Mineral Ore Export Permit (MOEP) facilitated

✅ 1 Ore Transport Certificate transaction completed

✅ Conduct of capacity building for additional small scale miners of Sibutad Small-Scale Miners Multi-Purpose Cooperative

More than the numbers, the activity’s success was reflected in the positive response and appreciation from our clients. Local mining stakeholders expressed immense gratitude for the initiative, noting how the event effectively saved days of travel time, reduced transportation expenses, and simplified procedures.

𝗗𝗘𝗡𝗥 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗲𝗹𝘀 𝗥𝗼𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗢𝘂𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗗𝗶𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 🚛💨

Bringing government services closer to the people, the DENR Express: Permitting on Wheels (POW) once again rolls out in Region IX to deliver faster, more accessible, and client-centered environmental and mining frontline services at CityMall Dipolog, Dipolog City, serving clients on May 25–26, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

As part of this nationwide initiative, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office IX (MGB-IX), through its Mobile One Stop Shop, continues to provide on-site permitting, certification, geoscientific assessments, technical assistance, and other frontline services closer to communities and stakeholders.

During the opening ceremony, Engr. Ramil Mundo, Chief of Mine Management Division, delivered a message of support on behalf of MGB IX Regional Director Engr. Hernani Abdon, emphasizing the Office's continued commitment to guiding and assisting small-scale miners toward responsible and legal mining operations, especially in Zamboanga del Norte.

A total of 112 clients were served for Day 1 highlighting the following:

✅Awarding of Three (3) Industrial Sand and Gravel (ISAG) Permit Renewals

✅Conduct of Capacity Building for small-scale miners of Sibutad Small-Scale Miners Multi-Purpose Cooperative (SSSMPC)

The event also serves as a venue for information dissemination and stakeholder engagement, further strengthening partnerships with the mining sector and local communities.

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office IX (MGB-IX), represented by Engr. Karll Colleen Contreras, Economist II, participated in the Workshop on the Implementation of the Philippine Ecosystem and Natural Capital Accounting System (PENCAS) Act (Republic Act No. 11995) and a Technical Session on Water Flow Accounts in Region IX, organized by the Philippine Statistics Authority – Regional Statistical Services Office IX on May 19–20, 2026 at Tindalo Hall, LM Metro Hotel, Zamboanga City.

The two-day workshop featured discussions on the salient provisions of the PENCAS Act and its Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR), institutional frameworks and regional mechanisms for environmental accounts implementation, and a SWOT analysis on the implementation of PENCAS. Participants also took part in technical sessions on Water Flow Accounts and the integration of environmental and economic data using the PENCAS and System of Environmental-Economic Accounting (SEEA) framework.

As the government agency mandated to conserve, develop, and ensure the responsible utilization of the country’s mineral resources, MGB-IX actively contributes technical inputs during the workshop on the integration of mineral sector data into environmental-economic accounting systems.

Through this participation, the Bureau reaffirms its steadfast commitment to responsible resource management, environmental stewardship, and the advancement of sustainable development initiatives in Region IX.

Due to the trough of the Low Pressure Area (LPA) affecting the region and increasing the risk of landslides, flooding, and coastal hazards, especially during periods of heavy or prolonged rainfall, residents are advised to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions.

Communities located near rivers, steep slopes, low-lying areas, and coastlines are advised to remain alert.

🚨Be on Alert for the Following Warning Signs:
• Sudden rise in water levels in rivers, creeks, or canals
• Flow of muddy or debris-laden water from upland areas
• Cracks on the ground, walls, or roads
• Tilting of trees, posts, or flooring, especially in sloped areas
• Unusual discoloration or drying of rivers (possible upstream obstructions)

🗣️What You Should Do:
✅ Monitor your surroundings during continuous rainfall
✅ Report any early signs of landslides or flooding to your barangay or MDRRMO
✅ Evacuate early if necessary. Do not wait for conditions to worsen
✅ Keep your emergency “go bag” ready with essential supplies
✅ Stay informed through official channels
