𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐃 | 𝐏𝟕.𝟎𝟓-𝐌 𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐠 𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐥𝐨 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐄𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭, 𝐋𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐉𝐨𝐛 𝐎𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐙𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐨𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐬🇵🇭
PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur — The national government brought its programs and services closer to the people, through the “Handog ng Pangulo: Serbisyong Sapat Para sa Lahat” event, featuring Job Fair, One-Stop-Shop services and simultaneous Emergency and Cash Assistance payouts, specifically TUPAD, held at the Mega Gym, Dao, Pagadian City, highlighting the government’s continuing commitment to provide employment opportunities, livelihood, and social protection to communities on September 14, 2026.
Anchored on the priority agenda of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., and under the leadership of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Francis N. Tolentino, the activity brought together various National Government Agencies (NGAs) and participating employers in a convergence effort aimed at bringing programs and services, employment opportunities, and livelihood grants closer to the people.
The event was led by Undersecretary Harold N. Cabreros of the Office of Civil Defense, representing the President, Zamboanga del Sur Governor Divina Grace C. Yu and other provincial government officials, Regional Directors of the different partner agencies, and distinguished guests.
Gov. Yu highlighted the strong national-local government collaboration in bringing essential programs, services, and opportunities closer to communities and addressing their needs at the local level.
Representing DOLE Secretary Tolentino, DOLE Zamboanga Peninsula Regional Director Albert E. Gutib delivered the Secretary’s message, emphasizing DOLE’s commitment to programs that directly address the needs of workers and jobseekers. Secretary Tolentino also called for stronger partnerships, measurable results, accountability, and programs that lead workers toward sustainable employment, livelihood opportunities, and productivity.
One of the highlights of the successful event was the Job Fair, which brought employers and jobseekers together and provided participants with direct opportunities to apply for available job vacncies. Through the collaborative efforts of employers and organizers, 22 jobseekers were hired on the spot (HOTS), demonstrating the activity’s effectiveness in facilitating immediate employment and supporting workforce transition.
Moreover, for the One-Stop-Shop services, 14 different government agencies and offices were brought together serving a total number of 456 clients, comprising 305 females and 151 males. The One-Stop-Shop atests the governments commitment and dedication to bringing the government services closer to the people and to those who needed them most.
Furthermore, other highlights of the event were the emergency employment and livelihood interventions of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), particularly the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) Program.
Through the TUPAD Program, P6.032 million in wages was provided to 650 beneficiaries from Labangan (250), Guipos (200), and San Pablo (200). Each received P9,280 for 20 days of work in agroforestry and community-based activities, including tree planting, communal gardening, clean-up drives, canal declogging, grass cutting, and minor facility repairs. The program provided temporary employment while supporting environmental protection and preservation, community development, and public facility improvement.
Meanwhile, livelihood assistance amounting to 749,250.00 pesos in total was provided to 15 Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) under the support of BJMP in the municipality of Dumingag. Each beneficiary received 49,000.00 pesos worth of livelihood assistance for Quail Egg-Laying Production, in partnership with JH Cerilles State College, with the Mahayag Farmers Cooperative (MAFAMCO) serving as its Accredited Co-Partner. In addition, the beneficiaries were provided with social preparatory skills training and GSIS insurance to further support their reintegration and livelihood development.
DOLE-9, the Handog ng Pangulo activity represents more than a convergence of government services—it is a tangible expression of the government’s commitment to ensure that workers and vulnerable communities are not left behind.
Regional Director Gutib’s participation likewise highlighted DOLE-9’s continuing role in advancing employment and livelihood opportunities throughout Zamboanga Peninsula, maintaining its mandate to protect workers and facilitate employment opportunities across the region.
