CITY GOVERNMENT OF PAGADIAN | PRESS RELEASE
June 8, 2026

FOR IMMEDIATE DISSEMINATION

In response to the Tsunami Warning issued by PHIVOLCS, the City Government of Pagadian is implementing a PREEMPTIVE EVACUATION for all residents in coastal barangays. Residents are strongly advised to proceed immediately to higher ground, or elevated land areas, as a precautionary measure.

CDRRMO Pagadian personnel are on the ground conducting monitoring, coordinating with barangay officials, and assisting evacuation efforts. The public is urged to remain calm, stay away from coastal areas, and monitor only official advisories.

The City Government of Pagadian emphasizes that this is a preemptive and precautionary action aimed at protecting lives and minimizing risk. Residents are advised to stay in safe areas until an official ALL CLEAR is issued.

International AIDS Candlelight Memorial 2026 🕯️
Theme: "Light the Legacy: Remember. Advance. Act."

Last Friday, May 29, 2026, we held our activity in observance of the International AIDS Candlelight Memorial — a time to remember those who passed away, support those living with HIV, and renew our commitment to end the epidemic.

We started with an educational lecture for participants discussing STIs, HIV/AIDS, and Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) to spread correct information and break stigma.

To make this activity more meaningful and beneficial, we also offered FREE HIV TESTING for everyone who wanted to be tested.This service was strictly VOLUNTARY,confidential, and available to all participants who wished to know ther status and take charge of their health.

At 6:00 PM, we gathered at the Dr. Jose Rizal Monument, City Hall Compound for the solemn Candle Lighting Ceremony. We lit our candles, offered a moment of silence, and said a prayer dedicated to all people suffering from or affected by HIV/AIDS — honoring their lives and hoping for a future free from this burden.

Naay patayng lawas sa usa ka lalaki nga nailhang si CESAR BANQUIAO, nga gibanabana nga nag-edad og 35 anyos. Gidala siya sa Aisah Medical Hospital apan gidiklarang patay na daan o dead on arrival (DOA).
