Pasay City โ The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has taken a significant step toward enhancing drone regulations and safety enforcement by convening an inter-agency meeting aimed at strengthening regulatory oversight and promoting responsible drone usage.
Led by CAAP Civil Security and Intelligence Service (CSIS) Chief General Ricardo Banayat, the meeting brought together key stakeholders from CAAP CSIS and the Office of the Director General (ODG), the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group (PNP-AVSEGroup), and the Office of the Presidentโs Anti-Terrorism Council.
Discussions focused on bolstering the enforcement of existing drone regulations, streamlining administrative processes for drone users, and enhancing inter-agency coordination.
A key topic of discussion was the establishment of designated drone parks or zones, providing a safe and legally sanctioned environment for both recreational and professional drone operations. To ensure compliance with regulations, CAAP also aims to introduce an accessible online registration system and a comprehensive safety program.
CAAP Director General Captain Manuel Antonio Tamayo underscored the critical role of public safety and national security as drone technology continues to evolve.
โBy collaborating with various government agencies, we aim to create a more structured and efficient regulatory framework that promotes responsible drone usage,โ said Director General Captain Tamayo.
This initiative reaffirms CAAPโs commitment to maintaining airspace safety while fostering innovation in drone technology, ensuring that regulations keep pace with advancements in the industry.
