📢 PUBLIC INFORMATION

During the live webinar/discussion regarding the Socio-Civic Fund Program under the administration of President Ferdinand “BBM” Marcos Jr., an important clarification was discussed concerning the scholarship beneficiaries for barangays.

Based on the question presented during the live session, it was clarified that the scholarship assistance for the five (5) student beneficiaries is not limited only to graduating students. Barangays may also consider students in their earlier years in college, especially those who qualify under other criteria such as:
• students from vulnerable households
• students at risk of dropping out
• students from families without a member who has attained tertiary education

The discussion emphasized that the scholarship program may accommodate deserving students who meet the applicable qualifications set by the program guidelines.

On May 15, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Punong Barangay Edgar T. Camus, Sangguniang Barangay Member Antonio L. Añasco, and Barangay Secretary Marrian Claudette M. Manibog attended the Kickoff Activity of the Road Traffic Injury Prevention (RTIP) Program held at Fan’s Hotel, Ormoc City. Organized by the City Health Department – Ipil Health District and sponsored by the Health Education and Promotion Officer (HEPO), the event aligned with the Department of Health’s (DOH) 8-Point Action Agenda (2023–2028) aimed at steering local communities toward safer roads.

The program commenced with registration and formal preliminaries, featuring a welcome message from Dr. Sarah Q. Hermoso, MD, MPH. Throughout the day, the attending officials participated in a series of comprehensive technical briefings, including an Introduction to Road Safety by the RTIP Program Coordinator, a local Road Traffic Report (2024–2026) presented by the Traffic Police Office of Ormoc City, and a Road Safety Communication Plan layout by Mrs. Ma. Aileen De Paz, HEPO. Additionally, Mr. Mark Angelo Cotiangco, CESU Designate, facilitated an orientation on the proper utilization of the Road Traffic Reporting Form.

Following a midday lunch break, the event moved into a plenary session moderated by Master of Ceremonies Mrs. Genne Mae Romero, RM, and officially concluded with a closing message from Dr. Cecile Louise Dejaño, Technical Head of the City Health Department.

Through this active participation, the barangay delegation successfully acquired the crucial guidelines, data insights, and reporting protocols necessary to effectively implement and promote road safety initiatives within their local jurisdiction.

On May 12–13, 2026, a local delegation led by Punong Barangay Bernardino Edgar T. Camus, alongside Sangguniang Barangay Member (SBM) Nice L. Alfante, Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Chairman Bejie C. Pelicano, and Barangay Secretary Marrian Claudette M. Manibog, actively participated in and successfully completed the 1st Training of Trainers on Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Inventory held at the Good Governance Building in Ormoc City, Philippines.

This intensive two-day capacity-building seminar was designed to institutionalize grassroots climate action by equipping the local officials with specialized knowledge and technical skills in GHG inventory preparation, standardized data collection and management, the precise identification of localized emission sources, and compliant reporting methodologies.

Sponsored and validated by key institutional stakeholders—including Green Convergence, First Philippine Holdings (FPH), Visayas State University (VSU), and the Ormoc City Planning and Environment and Natural Resources offices—the training culminated on May 13, 2026, with the official issuance of Certificates of Completion, thereby certifying these barangay leaders as qualified trainers ready to spearhead localized, data-driven environmental governance and sustainable development initiatives.

On May 14, 2026, at 8:30 AM, the Barangay Council of Barangay Macabug headed by Bernardino Edgar T Camus actively participated via Zoom in the virtual seminar conducted by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region 8. The session, entitled "2026 Pagrig-on Han Mga Harigi: Strengthening of Barangay-Based Institutions (BBIs) (Year 3) – Episode 2," focused specifically on the functionality and optimization of the Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Committee (BDRRMC). Through this capacity-building activity, the council participated in performance reviews and assessments aimed at strengthening local disaster preparedness, response strategic planning, and overall community resilience. This ongoing training ensures that Barangay Macabug remains compliant with DILG guidelines and fully prepared to protect and serve its residents during emergency situations.

Brgy. Macabug Council’s Participation in the Flag Raising Ceremony at Ormoc City Hall

The Barangay Macabug Council was among the invited barangay officials who attended the regular flag-raising ceremony held at the new Ormoc City City Hall lobby on Monday, May 18, 2026. The event was part of the city’s ongoing collaboration with international and national partners under the environmental and governance programs being implemented in the city.

The ceremony was attended by city officials and representatives from various partner institutions, including the European Union-Philippines Green Economy Partnership under the EU’s Global Gateway initiative, alongside the United Nations Development Programme and the Department of the Interior and Local Government. The activity featured traditional patriotic exercises and cultural presentations highlighting unity, discipline, and environmental awareness.

During the program, Barangay Macabug Council members actively participated together with other barangay leaders, civil society organizations, and city departments in supporting Ormoc City’s sustainability and circular economy initiatives. The city emphasized its commitment to strengthening local environmental governance and community participation.

One of the highlights of the event was the symbolic turnover of equipment and vehicles intended to support waste management and environmental programs. Barangay Macabug was among the recipient barangays that received an e-tricycle unit, which is expected to be utilized for improved barangay-level waste collection and environmental service delivery.

City officials, together with visiting delegates, underscored that these initiatives aim to strengthen grassroots implementation of circular economy practices, reduce waste generation, and promote cleaner and more resilient communities.

The participation of Barangay Macabug Council in this event reflects its continued engagement in city-wide development programs and its support for environmentally sustainable initiatives being implemented through partnerships between the local government and international development organizations.
