CAMP DOWNES, Ormoc City โ Brigadier General Pompeyo Jason M. Almagro, Commander of the 802nd Infantry (Peerless) Brigade, lauded the Local Government Unit of Borongan City for its unwavering commitment to sustaining peace and security as it intensified its anti-insurgency efforts during the City Peace and Order Council (CPOC) Meeting held on May 12 in Borongan City, Eastern Samar.
The meeting was presided over by Jose Ivan Dayan Agda, where Lieutenant Colonel Ricky James L. Rosalejos, Commanding Officer of the 63rd Infantry (Innovator) Battalion, presented the TRIAD accomplishments for the 2nd Quarter.
Lt. Col. Rosalejos also thanked Mayor Agda for his continued support to former rebels and for facilitating the release of the long-delayed subsistence allowance of the Civilian Active Auxiliary 2 in the City.
During the meeting, Lt. Col. Rosalejos presented the โSecuring Boronganโs Future: SIPSC Sustainment Framework,โ emphasizing the cityโs significant gains in peace, security, and development.
Following the presentation, Mayor Agda expressed gratitude for the positive assessment on the current Internal Peace and Security Condition of the City and supports the Declaration of Borongan City as having a Stable Internal Peace and Security Condition (SIPSC), citing that the city has already met the necessary parameters for the declaration.
โWe are grateful for the efforts and continuous support of the local government of Borongan City to the Armyโs peace and security initiatives. The impending SIPSC declaration marks a major milestone toward achieving lasting peace and sustainable development in the city. For years, the people of Borongan suffered from the atrocities of the Communist Terrorist Group, which sowed fear and hindered development in the countryside. This declaration symbolizes the triumph of unity, resilience, and good governance,โ BGen. Almagro said.
The 802nd Infantry (Peerless) Brigade reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the local governmentโs peace and development programs aimed at attracting more investments, boosting economic opportunities, and improving the lives of communities in the city.
Borongan City is tentatively set to declare a Stable Internal Peace and Security Condition next month. # #
